Knock it off guys, let's only make fun of Mark in this thread, ok?

Four time times, Two were porsche (4cyl 944 and 928 engine), two were chebbies. (6 and 8).
All three that were installed are still running last time I checked, years later. The 928 4.5L that I assembled and then sold may not have been installed yet, I do not know.
While your comment was not construcive, nor conciliatory, the statement that sparked your comment was from Mark. It is common knowledge you don't use assembly lube on piston rings or cylinder walls. I simply had a discussion (a pretty sane and civil one, right Mark?) with mark about it a few months back.
Play though.

What are you doing with the heads mark? You will have them surfaced right? Maybe a valve grind, some seals?

That's right. I was just joshing ya. (however, there were some articles I provided that said that assembly lube on the piston skirts was ok. Plus, i still think the alusil motors break in differently than other motors. ) But yes, i was joking about doing that on this engine.
as far as the heads, im still on the fence. very limited budget this season, so im inclined to probably just have the head surface cleaned up and not too much more. I might take a dremel to the intake and exhaust ports ( or air tools as greg has suggested) and at least port match them.
I mean, where does it end? I would like to stuff 968 valves in there and port and polish the heads, but that has its costs.
Also, for the car, being basically a stock chassis with some bolt on stuff, i think the power made by this motor, if it can reach near 400rwhp, will be plenty to do what im doing in SCCA racing.
what do the experts think this motor will make with stock heads? Im hoping for 395rwhp.

I wont tell anyone either.
Just show up on race day, suddenly passing everyone, and wait for them to ask what the hell is going on!

If you do anything to the ports you are disassembling the heads anyway.

i can see carillo rods, je pistons and nicasil - what kind of crank is it, what is the bore and stroke??
mark - stretch your budget and fit the 968 intake valves this one time or else you will regret it for a longer time, imo.
