Default Will Brett achive his goal. 200 mph+

Ok, guys i see a lot of discussion going on about the 1000hp 928 motor, Bretts run and stuff.

Botton line poll and its public.

Will Brett achieve his goal of reaching 200mph or more.

I wish him all the best and i hope he proves me wrong but i DO NOT think the motor will make it...if the motor cant make it, he'll come up short.

i was waiting for the poll... but I guess you're not posting one.

My thoughts are yes. Is it a 1000+ HP machine? No. But with the rev limiter essentially removed, I think he can do it as long as the bearings hold out.

The gotch ya in it is he doesnt need 1000hp to reach 200mph as its pointed out. From the post im assuming he is "flipping the switch" and will use it all mainly due to the fact that he has a limited amount of room to get up to speed and stop.

Either way, you all have your poll

You're right Tony. He doesn't need all of it. The question is how high will he be tempted to take it? 202, 205, 210? And when he does, that's when things will go bad.

Unfortunately you've lock in the poll. I would have voted "Yes. He'll make it but destroy the engine in the process." But it'll be pretty cool to say the least.

I'm in this camp.

I'm also hoping, praying he has a roll cage / racing seat and harness. If the engine goes, oil on the track.....

Brett, be safe man. No matter what happens, we want you back here in one piece telling us the story.

I wish him the best and hope he makes it. However, nitrous is hard on engines are requires very good tuning at those levels.

Need one more option. I think he'll make 200+mph, but the engine will NOT survive.

He seems too determined to back off before reaching that goal. 1000hp: I doubt it. 200+mph: possible. Stopping afterward: that's overrated.

In the immortal words of Mr. T: "I predict PAIN."

I didn't say this, but I was thinking it. Better safe than dead, brother!

whats the highest anyone here has pushed the 928 motor? IIRC someone had a 600whp 928, thats like 680 at the crank...by my math brett will need about 800HP to go to 220. i think it is totally possible but am certain that the engine would not survive more than a few of these runs. it may even break down during the run but i am sure he can get to at least 200.

id be concerned that the fuel system will give up and the engine will detonate itself into a million pieces.

There have been runs over 200mph already. I'm not sure what the hp numbers were, but I think it was during an ORR.

Edit: Found these two:

It still has over 600rwhp, he probably took it to work today since the roads are clear and no snow in the forecast.

Todd's motor and Brett's motor are totally different. I don't think Brett did much if anything to the motor for this attempt whereas Todd has done everything, I think.

Todd's current motor is 100% stock except for the 951 pistons. It is 100% refreshed, if that is what you meant.
