Thumbs up

Awesome idea.
I've visualized exhaust pipes there like that and thought it would look cool but be totally impractical, add weight, put a hot pipe next to the gas tank and flow worse than a regular system.... But, if the passenger side was an intake and the extra space back there was to house part of a RMT system, that just might work and look great!

I think this would work Great by running the piping over to were the old exhaust box was and then foward. Now it would be easier to have the exhaust on the passangers side but that would put the "hot" right up against the fuel tank . The amount of room back thier is very helpfull and running the intake and exhaust paralel to the front is helpfull too, but heat exchange would have to be addresed. (heat wrap the intake ?)
I jerry riged this up to see how it would look on mine befor putting on the bumperets and it LOOKED GREAT!. Im betting that it would make a unique sound ..... maWWWWWWWWWWWOOMMMMMMMMMSSSSSSHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaa.

I wonder if there would be a problem drawing adequate supply of intake air here since its in a low pressure area at speed, too much vacuum & turbulence?

If physics serves my memory (beter then my ability to spell) if its a negative turbulance area it might work as a benefit kinda like opening a window and changing the air flow dinamics, my only worry would be cross contamination of spent exhaust getting intaked (but i thoughtabout that too,,,,,,a thin split spoiler on each side of the plate. Another little bit more aggresive addition to my design would be to add a intake scoop were the S spoiler is channeled down and opening right above the intake (thiers plenty of room for this i checked, only probelem is making a smoth channel thats air tight and well sealable because it would have to still alow the hatch to open.) So thier would be a scoop facing foward running inside the hatch and down then back towards were the tool kit is and down, not too much cutting.

Wow, never thought I'd say this, but thanks for posting HP. Looks like there are turbo haters in all walks of cardom. But we already knew that...

My RMT project is on hold while I get my shark up to snuff. I swapped in a new MAF and didn't see a huge change in drivability. My idle is steady but crazy low, so I think that's my next jumping off point. Once she's sorted, the East Coast RMT project begins in earnest.

Those pics of the notchback mustang with the huge turbos in the trunk made my jaw drop. Awesome.

Hey now be nice
As I've said 1,000 times over I'm in favor of anything that benefits any 928. No matter who or what is behind it.

I wouldn't go that far, sure there are people on that board who question the RMT idea. I do not see any posts against turbo's in general. There is a difference.

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this before, I saw my first RMT at SEMA back in 2002 on a Camaro & Chevy 3/4 truck. I'm suprised it's taken this long for more people to try it.

One thing lots of people misunderstand is that it is BOTH the heat energy AND the pressure/flow increase that makes a turbo work. Having heat energy is great (PV=nRT), but not required for a turbo to make power. It will make less power if there is less heat around, but you can just get a bigger turbo or raise the PSI to compensate, at the price of more lag.
