How many other 928 owners are in need of new alternator cooling ducting
I just removed my absolutely thrasher, oil soaked and grunge filled alternator cooling duct and was curious how many other people would replace this if a cheap alternative came about?
I'd like to spend less then $40-50 for this.
Curious if anyone else is in need of this?

Mine was trashed from a leaking oil cooler line(have replaced the lines) The ducting hose has that wire in it so once it comes apart it is a bitch to work with. I got a rubber reducer from the plumbing dept. at the hardware store and have used it W/ duct tape to reconnect the hose to the plastic inlet to the alternator. Not prety but it works. Would be interested in a decent hose if not to expensive.

You can buy the correct tubing for a lot less than $40-50. This source has been mentioned several times before. 2.5" for $6.25/foot. [Now $7.50]

Bill, have you seen that stuff in the flesh? Ive seen some defroster ducting thats very plastic like which i want to avoid, but this says its rubber impregnated cloth which sounds like the factory stuff.

Ryan-
I'm happy with it, it's slightly heavier than the OEM stuff, and a little more 'impregnated' with rubbery coating than the more cloth-like factory stuff, if that makes any sense. It is close enough to OEM, and it functions just fine. I just need to find an excuse to install the alternator shroud gasket that's been sitting in my parts bucket for a year now........

Yes, Dave A, a local, has used it. I will tell you that the last time I ordered the expensive stuff from one of our trusted 928 vendors, it looked awfully generic. I felt a bit ripped off. I used it on a buddy's car I was working on, and I felt rather guilty charging him $50 for rather common-looking vent hose, but that's what I paid for it.

I used flex muffler pipe from Autozone. It fit perfectly into the cowl and I ran it to the brake duct opening in the spoiler. I drilled holes into it for drainage and covered the opening with some screening. I didn't have to worry about the outside air sensor since I didn't have one to begin with.
I couldn't see spending $50 for $5 worth of pipe from the auto parts store.
