As for empathy... the cops didn't impound my car --that says something.
I said "relatively" crime free. S.J. is one of the safest cities in the US, statistically. I lived at 82nd and MacArthur in Oakland for four years and I am still alive. San Jose? Enough said. Believe what you wish.

It was full-on BWAAAAAHHHHHH! I've already gotten-off on the deal --I'm just trying to save a few more bucks. Is it really in my best interest to contest it, or will it just cost me in stress?

Also, if you haven't yet had the Pepperidge Farm "Chocolate Chessmen" cookies, you should seriously go to Safeway right now and get some.

I'm a vegan. I can't eat cookies unless they are vegan. I don't shop at Safeway out of respect for United Farm Workers's boycott of same. I do have a vegan cookie in the house. In fact I have four of them. But I only eat them on Saturday night. And I can't eat this close to bedtime. Guess I'll just have to start all over again tomorrow and eat some oats and agave nectar from another market. Bummer!!

I still don't understand why you were charged with exhibition of speed. I think you should get a consultation with an attorney. It should be free to do so. If Ron can't get a good one for you, call the Bar Association in your area. I've done that in the past and been very happy with the consultation. The DUI guys use exhibition of speed as a plea bargain charge and should be familiar with it.

Guilty of WHAT? I ignore that law as it a) isn't designed to protect human life or property; b) is a blanket rule which never works in all situations.

Had you made this ruccus in front of a school or office or homes on a busy business day or at night, YES. Plus, as has been stated you were charged with a crime you did not commit. Guilty? "I'm sorry Daddy, spank me now".

If you squealed the tires, they could have cited you for a municipal code - excessive acceleration.
It sounds to me that yes they did bend the code a bit and this is why he got nothing. But I think in the area he was in their is some sort of sting or other op going on for hookers or drugs and this is why he had 3 on him like hair on a gorella. I think they were hoping to find drugs

I'm with H on this. You may be guilty of committing a crime, but was it the crime you were charged with? What if they had charged you with murder, would you still say you're guilty? If the glove does not fit, they must acquit!

To make a charge on private property, presupposes a complaint from an owner or lessor of the private property, and it wouldn't be VC23109.
Where this incident took place is somewhat deserted during the time it happened. It was in an industrial area, similar to the area in Bill Ball's video of a certain hot rod 928
breaking traction in a controlled manner in front of 928 International's building.

Ron
Interesting how "exhibition of speed" and "engaging in a speed contest" are intentionally SO vague....I'm sure that is on purpose!

Keep in mind in my pre evil-empire days I have 2 of the 3 2 point tickets you can get.....reckless driving...check.....exceeding 100mph....check....the only one I don't have and should never get is DUI....

I hope 3000 can beat the case....it is unlikely...but who knows......

3000...seriously...go meet up with Ron in person and go over every little detail of the case....it can do nothing but help.... I wish I could be of more assistance.....but I don't know anyone down there....bummer....then again I don't know many city cops....since they all tend to be ****** :>)

OK, considering the fervor here around this being contestable --I think it will be wise to t least consult an attorney. Thanks again everyone for the advice.

Ron, are you an attorney?

Actually, I prefer truck stops. You may take a shower for $5 and buy neat things for your car. I even got a neat pocket knife at the last one I visited. But if it isn't Saturday night, why bother? Just crash in the dumpster enclosure and save a few bucks.

I don't know how anyone could ever accuse me of such a thing. That's awful.
Did you know that attorneys are now the most despised persons in this society, displacing used car salesmen which were the former most hated individuals? Well, that's what I've heard.

PM me.
