I was just able to beat a speeding ticket with some help from a detective cop friend. I was nervous, in front of a judge and whole courtroom full of people, but the "fix" was in. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I was doing 47 in a 30 in my work truck...I do pay way more attention in the 928, and use a detector...
Here's an old pic from '04 in my '89 a/t:

Further down it states:
23109.2. [I](a) (1) Whenever a peace officer determines that a person
was engaged in any of the activities set forth in paragraph (2), the
peace officer may immediately arrest and take into custody that
person and may cause the removal and seizure of the motor vehicle
used in that offense in accordance with Chapter 10 (commencing with
Section 22650). A motor vehicle so seized may be impounded for not
more than 30 days.

This leaves a large opening for debate. Judge, jury, ect....

I didn't get stopped twice in a day in Redwood City, but I did get stopped a few times. I borrowed a Valentine 1 for a weekend as well and it did let me know when I was tagged. In Nevada I managed to convince a police officer that cruising at around 100 mph was normal in part of my world and nothing I thought twice about on that excellent part of I80. Lucky for me I was accelerating back from being held up by other traffic. Just before I had been sitting just under top speed trying to figure out the math of the best cruising speed compared to fuel size and consumption at different speeds. Never did get a good number for that. After that stop I figured that if I keep getting pulled over for normal driving I might as well stick to lamepacing like everyone else. I did get amazing gas mileage on the way back. Over 30 mpg in a 944S2 IIRC going from Winnemucca (sp?) to Redwood city.
Brian, no real need to worry about the tickets since I have figured out a way to never see them - give a fake/temporary address and help in translating the info on my Swedish license.

I know how to make a CHP officer giggle - when they ask if you know how fast you were going tell them "Well, I did try to keep it under a hundred."
The ORR car is a BMW and I plan to make the ORR 928 drivers feel slow.

Aw c'mon Anders, I recall a day when you were stopped in Redwood City or near there earlier in the day and then later that night some cops stopped you right outside Devek. You told me about it. Of course you left before your court date as I recall. Hey, it's not big deal. I've been stopped twice in one day.

It was quite absurd, the cop was telling me that I needed an international license with me. And I said that I did not per the information of his employers website.
It went back and forth like that with no more arguments. I think I actually told him to give me a ticket for something and let me go since I was sick of sitting there (it was getting increasingly cold and stupid on the same time).
Both CHP and NHP were friendly though, I chatted a bit with them about driving in Europe. I spent something like 20 minutes explaning to one guy that there actually are roads with no speed limits outside the US.
Just this autumn I did a 680 km/ drive in just over 4½ hours. It would have taken 10 hours in the US.

I have a friend that has over 100,000 miles at over 100 mph in this country. It can be done. And it should be done. We have vast stretches of empty landscape as far as the eye can see.......so long as the birds are not sitting on the roadway.

Hey Andre, Thanks for giving me a call the other night. Sorry I haven't called back. it's been a busy week --some monolith of a company from Redmond is trying to buy out the little outfit I work for --what's the world coming to?
Looks like Ron and I may be meeting-up tomorrow down here in the south bay somewhere --you're welcome to attend if you're able.

Here is a useful video dealing with rights of the police to search your vehicle, and other places as well. Hopefully it will offer effective tools under such circumstances.

Good video...I've seen it labeled several different ways...but I think it was made by the ACLU.....it brings up some excellent points....speaking as one of the evil empire..the most important is "cops are NOT your friends...they do NOT want to help-you-out" all they want is you to hang yourself to make their case AGAINST you stronger, which in turn makes their job easier.....
Basically tell the cop the least amount possible, while being non-threating and polite and don't "consent" to anything...ever..... an excellent answer to most cops ??? is either "I dunno" or "No"....depending on the question of course...
