It seems whenever I edit my cars.com ad I get a couple text message phishing queries. You can tell when they ask "What is your price" and it's in the ad; but I usu reply just in case. This time I got a reply in the vein of the classic scam, "I have to send a check larger, etc. and you refund the excess" It this case it is about $7K. Just thought I'd pass along "andymac_auto_link@yahoo" in case anybody else gets his line. No, I'm not going to reply to him.

There's gotta be a way to scam the scammer on something like this. You need to get the perp moved over to good old US mail so you have the post office helping you prosecute. Offer to deliver the car, bring large friends, something has to work.

At least he exposed his scam upfront. The slick ones seal the deal first, build confidence by being real friendly and getting to know you (con) and "step" up to the excess check thing. People are not suspicious enough of cashier's checks.

That is play on the "Good money chasing bad" and not meant to say, it is fun chasing bad. If there was satisfaction to be gained, I be all for it, but it is a waste of time.
I think the mistake is to even reply by email. Then they have my email address. Delet, move on.
