That actually worries more than a good deal. Is there any way we can put some diagnostic tools on it?

So much for that idea......the "dealer" bought it for $7500....it turned out to be a 1990GT....so if anyone sees a white over blue 1990 GT for sale in the LA area (Santa Monica) short term future....you know where it came from......my friend never even had a chance to buy it........:>(

What kind of dealer I wonder. It's pretty unusual for a dealer to buy a car that obviously needs some work.

Where I live, Dealers buy cars they can wash and put on the lot for you to worry about repairs once you get it home. They generally don't buy cars that need to spend a lot of time with a mechanic before it can go on the lot.

Around here, the dealers pay much more attention to detail.

They only buy cars they can wash, fill the leaky radiator with oatmeal, coat-hanger-wire the muffler back up, drunkenly weld on an un-crashed back/front half of the unibody, steam-clean the hurricane-flooded carpets, have Crackhead Paint Shoppe spritz it with their best $5 paint, and THEN put it on the lot for you.

Sorry you missed the GT, Brian. It made for an exciting thread.

It is amazing people mentioning PPI when they ran into too good to be deals. I mean, you take money and you get a car/title in return. That of course, if the deal is too good to be true which it was in this case.

I found out a bit more about the car today...it was a 1990GT...& I never really had a shot at it....(shocker)....the guy that had is a pure wholesaler......likes to flip cars ASAP...so this local Porsche Dealer (or so I heard) bought it.....with no lights, a TB warning on & a rough running engine + 158k miles.....doesn't sound so good to me!
