He said he was a wholesaler so ....no surprise. Besides OFTEN a dealer will call for bids before they trade for a car then after they get it they shop it around for a higher bid if none happens they call the first wholesaler and tell him to come get his car...
it is a very tough business.

The people who get the bargains are the ones who will place a deposit sight-unseen an hour and a half after the car gets put up for sale on the net, and are ok risking the loss of their deposit for no result.
All other factors just affect the risk calculation to the person in question - like whether they need a running car, have enough garage space, are comfortable rebuilding the engine, have a wife who won't give them crap for rebuilding a(nother) 928, are willing to pay for parts etc. etc.

Bargains do happen recently a 1990 S-4 ended up on a repo lot and sold for very little...it had a fresh Greg Brown stroker engine and had been fully restored paint interior wheels you name it...it was for sale for a few hours. Customer who went to see it recognized the car and bought it..... The repo lot just thought it was an an old 928
