I just got a used Momo 350mm wheel with small horn button in the middle. Its leather, but im used to the "slick" stock wheel, so it shouldnt be an issue.
one thing though, its really not much smaller. (maybe 1/2" top and bottom) also, only about 1lb lighter 3 vs 4 lbs for the stock. dont know what the adapter will weigh , but i bet its around 8oz. (net savings, 8oz over stock)

do you really notice a difference over the stock sterring wheel?

how do you put in the horn? stock goes with a rotating contact ring and a removable ground wire.. I guess you could tap into the rotating contact, that runs along the stock wheel ring, and just wire it to the new momo wheel.now, the wire has to twist with the wheel, and it probably will fail over time.

Ill have to review Bills write up.

thanks,

Mk

I went a different way with a smaller Momo wheel. The diameter is smaller than a stock wheel, but has a nice feel. I added the silver crest to the center of the wheel because I take my car to shows.

The adapter is very light sheet metal.

The stock horn ring and wire stay intact. Yes, my write-up shows that.

Peter, is this wheel commonly available online somewhere? If so, do you know the price?

Bill,

Ok, my horn is a little different, it is insulated from the wheel when installed and has two spade connectors for the horn switch . one is marked ground. i image that the little tab on that ring is used with a wire to the horn ground spade, since there is no other way the main horn power wire is to get to ground unless it is grounded. so, i guess ill make up a short wire to connect the second horn wire to the little spade on the sheetmetal spacer.

on the 930 description page you provided, it showed the wheel wire attaching to the spade on that sheetmetal. that wouldnt be good, as if that sheet metal is ground, then the power wire would be connecting to ground. maybe the 930 has a different horn power hookup.

Hi Bill,
Yes it is commonly available if you are reffering to the wheel that i posted about when originally starting this thread.
Not sure about the US but it is available, here is one example on the web:

Hey, I was just looking at some of the superlap battle pictures where the guys from JAPAN in the HKS Evo broke the record with a car that would make the ALMS GT1 guys proud!!! This thing had the BEST of everything, weighed about 2400lbs with driver and had a rumored 800hp. I just noticed, they are using the same steering wheel i got from some guy in Japan. the only difference is that they have some real trick "hinged" quick release

if that steering wheel is good enough for "Tago", running a 1:44 and slaughering the track record, it should be fine!

Mark: Not sure about the horn wiring. Mine isn't like that. Did you figure it out?

The wheel looks great. Hey, I've got a spare Porsche crest horn button for you.

Thanks Bill!

Yes, figured it out. i guess that little tab is for a reason. i guess if the horn doesnt make contact with ground, a new contact has to be made. my horn had the second ground connection , not just the one.

anyway, a porsche crest would look GREAT! Let me know how much! the momo wheel looks great, but the momo horn looks pretty bad.

thanks
