Default New hiding spot for Nitrous Tank.

Got a leather wrapped rear console with storage in great shape for $44! While setting it on top of the old cover to see how it would look, I started contemplating that I wouldn't want to drill it for the Nitrous mounts, plus the storage compartment would be of no use.

Then it hit me. With a little cutting and some extra leather I could easily leave it over the old one, covering the nitrous bottle. It would make the back seats a little more snug but I think it will look fairly stock when finished and trimmed up. I measured the bracket and tank (which are out, as I pull the engine, I am running all new lines and hardware.). It will be very tight and I may have to cut down into the old cover a little, but I think the end result will be a well hidden tank. The front opening created can be on a flap door that can be easily lifted to open or shut the bottle. And yes I will have to paint it to match the seats...

I'll update the finished product in a week or two.

Hi

If you are going to put it there..make sure the front of the bottle is around 20 degrees higher than the back of the bottle so the dip tube is in liquid Nitrous not gaseous Nitrous....

What size bottle have you as a standard 10 or 11 lb bottle wont fit there ?

All the best Brett

Also vent your safty blow down to the outside. I know "928ss" was just kidding, but I had a 10lb. full bottle heat up in the sun and blow the safty valve. My bottle was vented to the bottom of the car and well... one heck of a show. Car went up in a cloud and sounded like a Jet taking off, but no harm except 10lb. of nitrous wasted.
Good luck

I want to see the roll bar installation. a section of the roll bar, used for the NOS tank.
then, when you get in a crash, its like an air bag for fire. it just blows it out with cold air.

Hi Mark

Thats not as silly as it sounds...I know a fair amount about the history of Nitrous and in the early days of American racing when Nitrous was almost unheard of, the few racers who used it did NOT want it discovered so at least one that I know of, did exactly what you are suggesting...

He had a special roll cage section made and filled that with Nitrous, it fed into some pipes inside the bonnet (hood)

The REALLY clever bit was this, whenever the car was scrutineered the bonnet was UP,,,,,and the Nitrous pipes were up and out of sight...lol...only when the bonnet was lowered and fastened would the Nitrous work

Amazing ingenuity you Americans have...

All the best Brett
