Dumb question about rear decal

Here's an example of a different location for the "928 S" decal right on our forum. Jason

I would agree, there is nothing to indicate that his car is an S. It looks like a standard US 81. US marker lights, no spoilers and 4.5L motor. Even if it was an S, everything that made it an S has been undone.

Well when I bought the car it was advertised as a 928 S and not knowing anything about the 928's at the time I assumed it was. I even found it in the registry with the "S" decal on it. So I guess in a nutshell Nicole it's my car and I'm going to put whatever I GD feel like putting on it. Feel free to ignore this "Irrelevant" post in the future. Jason

I had an '82 U.S. Competition group car as shown in the table. It basically just had the front and rear spoilers, and a different set of tranny rations, I think. The title said it was an S but I don't reacall if it had the decal on the rear or not.

Also, I realize that you may have thought your car was an "S" when you purchased it. Looking at the information you got about the car, I can understand why. However, your car is not an "S". Just to clear things up for you.

Jason: You can do whatever you want with your car. It's none of my business. You can even paint it pink on one side and purple on the other, with a yellow stripe in the middle. But if you ask me, if that's how they came from the factory, I will tell you that they didn't.
You are not the first person who bought a basic 928 "believeing" it was an S. Shady used car sales people have pulled this trick many times before. It does not make a car an "S", no matter how self confident the used car salesperson is.
But when you ask:
then the corect answer is: There never was a such decal on your car, so there is no correct location, either.

What is the original location for the "928S" decal on the rear of my 81 928?

Nicole I realize after talking to Roger today that you really did mean well by posting. I apologize for jumping to conclusions. As I explained to Roger today I really got burned on this car so it really bothers me. I should not have taken it wrong. My apologies to all effected. Jason

Hey Jason, I know the feeling man! My first one was love at first sight, and she served me well. The second one - the one I have now - when I saw it after the transport dropped it off, I nearly sh*t....served me right for buying a car sight unseen! there was much wrong with it, and many tie strips holding things together, bad paint, and so on.
Nevertheless, with a bunch of TLC, (and many $$$), it has become more than what I thought it was at the outset. I jumped in it today and went for a 2.5 hour drive just for the hell of it!
Anyway, I looked at your car thru the Registry post - it is a real nice looking example. A real "keeper" if you ask me . no rub strips, no sunroof. Just take your time with it, and soon enough it'll be what you want it to be. I am still kicking myself for not buying a beautiful moss green '78, super clean, about a year ago. Real similar to Chuck's on the Registry, but not quite as exclusive. They're all great!

I've been on this board long enough - the guys had plenty of time to chase me away. But for some strange reason they did not...
