Default Dumb question about rear decal

Ok here's the question. What is the original location for the "928S" decal on the rear of my 81 928? Before I bought the car it was repainted and neither the porsche lettering or the 928s decal was put on so I'm having to do it without knowing where it goes. I've seen it in 4 different places. Any pictures would be a great help also. Thanks, Jason

The sunken PORSCHE had some vinyl lettering in it, and the "928S" was centered underneath. However, you could order the car without the decals.

I have some 3D-Lettering that fits into the sunken area and enhances it. I also have raused "928S4" lettering, of which you could just use the "928S". Or you can get creative with raised script lettering... The possibilities are endless.

What's the color of your car?

No, Porsche already sells raised letters for the GT - no need to duplicate what's already available.

Hi Stan

Going to try to upload a photo now. This always gives me headaches.

http://forums.rennlist.com/upload/img_0179s.jpg

I think that should be it. If it doesn't come out somebody please tell me what I'm doing wrong. Anyway, I bought the letters and adhesive mounting from 928 Intl and sprayed it with a can. It came out quite well.

Well, that worked. But how does one get the picture to appear in the message without having to click on the link?

9mil928's question is regarding a 1981 928. Correct me if I am wrong, but I'd thought that the OBs did not originally come with "928S" rear decals. Can someone confirm please?

Thanks for the posts everyone. Not sure if I missed it but has anyone said where the 928S goes originally? AS far as the color of the car. It originally was tin metallic but after they repainted it has more gold in in say like a light platinum. Not sure what the actual color is now. It must have been a earl shive paint job. Looks like it was a single stage paint with poor prep work. They even painted over the porsche decals on the rear of the car. Thankfully they did remove the 928s decal. I'm going to go with the dark grey color on the decals I think unless someone knows better. Jason

Does anyone happen to have a 81 928S with original decals installed? If not original decals how about replacement decals in the original location? Any pictures? I need to get these decals ordered and installed. I don't want to look like a idiot by putting the "928S" in the wrong location. Thanks, Jason

Colin, to get pics to show up just put the URL between the tags [*img*] & [*/img*] . Just remove the asteriks. I put those there so the tags would show up for you.

Linderpat not to question you but I need to make sure. This is an original decal right or it's a repo in the original place? I think I have seen it in 4 different places. I've seen it on top, the lower right, bottom, and top right. It makes me crazy. The next question is did they change locations of the decal through the years???? Thanks for the help, Jason
