Just spoke to a local 911 owner who picked up a new GTO 400 Hp version. He was having new wheels and tires put on. He said it was not slow but felt it would give a 993 a run for its money but would not dust it by any means. He also said the factory suspension need major work before he would tangle with a Porsche on the twisties.

The new GTO is a modern day muscle car, period. There is no need to compare it to anything other than other sedans with large engines. The original GTO was the same thing too and I wouldn’t mind having one.

i agree that the new GTO is as bland as anything on the road and yes, this particular one, probably modded. like i said in the first post, i am looking to excuse my desire/need for a SC kit... im really just jonesing for my 930 engine work to be completed- new turbo (K27 HF) , new exhaust, euro headers, rebuilt and tweaked dist. new plugs, valve adj, blah blah blah.

****... who's kidding who! i want 500hp in the shark dag nabbit!

Sounds like a great winter project to me. When do we get started?

If you want, I could probably be a delivery boy for you when I come back from Wisconsin.

I enjoy my daily driven 500+ hp bland "overgrown caviler". I have heard some good ones kinda of like owning 928 and going to PCA event. Much cheaper to mod then the 928's I had. So the GTO leans a little or alot in the corner at Summit Point if you leave it stock. It still seems to get around the track better then some other cars that cost much more and IM no track star.

Its not just about HP or acceleration, otherwise, everyone would be drooling over the 1972 Vauxhall Victor.

I gotta say though, there is some humor in the fact the fastest car is a vauxhall.

If anything, the new GTO captures the essence of the original one. A basic sedan with a monster V8. The original GTO had a big engine and nothing else and it was fast only in a straight line. When it came to breaking or cornering it became a real handful. Don’t let the nostalgia effect your judgement.

I would insist on cash! Brian can give it to me to carry.

If Brian is who I think he is (I think the women remember him well) he's the last person I would want to be running away from this side of Abby.
