Got dusted at high speed by a 425hp GTO
Well, there is really no substitute for HP as i was reminded on a high speed blast to the office this morning. I have a 25 mile stretch of 3 lane freeway from Farmington Hills to Brighton, MI that is always fun to drive. About 4 miles into it, I pulled up on a 2006 black GTO with a vanity plate that read 'vaderba'. I was driving about 80 and he saw me coming.... He jacked it and kept on pulling away. i simply had to watch and whimper...
For those of you who like to lecture about driving excessivley fast, you can stop reading now...
no matter how fast we were going, the gto could easily pull away from me. we played cat and mouse for about 10 minutes between 80 and 130.. when i hit 130, he was still pullling away hard and there was nothing i could do...im sure he hit 150 at one point... clearly no limiter on that car...
anyways, he was a nice kid.. not trying to be a ***** like most others that pull up on a porsche with a chip... it was a great way to start the day, even though i got my *** handed to me...
damn, that gto is fast. there was nothing i could do at any speed to hang with him. i know i look way cooler in my shark but damn i need more juice!!
murf, i need to come up for an install soon buddy!!

OUCH!
Well, at least he was cool about it. Sounds like you were too. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap and nod to the power. Maybe you needed a more twisty road course to show off the total package.
You definitely have him on cool points though. I love that they made a powerful car, but calling it a GTO and giving it that design? Not my cup of tea.

Mike,
exactly. thats what i did... he would pull up next to me after one of the dustings, i would smile and just shrug my shoulders. he laughed of course. he waved a few times when he took his exit. very cool. not at all common. it was fun though...

Three Wheelin'
Brian,
Yup, that's how it is...lotsa fast cars out there. Road cars have crazy amounts of horsepower these days, and even the ones that don't can be real off-the-line sprinters! Still, it's fun to mix it up behind the wheel!
Yesterday, this old Mustang fastback--maybe '67 or thereabouts--merged on the highway behind me and OPENED UP! I mean he took off with sound and fury. It was crazy loud and super quick, so I was glad it was my exit! It was a beautiful car, but I'm sure it would have torn my butt up.

Next time drive Andrews car.
Goats can be pretty quick cars but that said, i have not been impressed by any i have seen so far at the track running the 1/4mile. My guess is he may of had something under the hood.
To bad Pontiac was so generic with there design for the car...basically an over grown Cavelier.

I believe the new GTO's are a pretty heavy car and don't run fantastic times in 1/4 mile for the HP they have. I have never seen one go from a roll though. If he walked away THAT easy I'd wonder if he had some mods you didn't know about.
