AMEN!

The Ponti GTO's are not much if any heavier than a 928 S4/GTS and stock they have a solid 100HP more than the S4... SOOOO, yea they are going to pull you pretty big. Of course the other problem is that it has a Vette motor in it so you can do a zillion different things to make more HP easily in that car!

The Ponti GTO weighs in at a hefty 3774 pounds and has traction issues. My GTS weighs in at 3505 and CT at 5500 If my Cayenne can spank a GTO's but my GTS can also. Most numbers I see for the GTO are relatively quick from 0-60 but the best is 4.8 seconds most numbers I see are in the 5.0 range for the LS2. 1/4 mile times are not great the best recorded time I have seen stock is 13.65 at 105.12 mph and on average 13.87 at 103 mph. My GTS can better the 1/4 mile times by .2 or more and the CT by about the same although the GTS would be at about 102-103 mph and the CT would be closer to 109 mph. For a car that weighs far lest than the CT and has only 50 less HP those aren't great numbers and says a lot for the Cayenne turbo motor.

I do agree that there is a lot that can be done to the LS2 motors to make them much more powerful but we aren't talking mods now are we.

It seems like I've done a lot, but besides the (modified) X-pipe, it's a whole list of minor upgrades and tweaking of the stock systems. I have made more power by keeping it closer to stock, instead of trying to re-engineer what Porsche designed (tensioner aside ).

IMNSHO, they optimized the S³·5 for a lot more power, then dialed it waaay back for available octane and emissions.

camboinc,
i was thinking about this thread on the way into work today. it occurs to me that nobody has said what you really need to hear. you have embarrassed us all. i am sure that no one here cares how many mods he had on his car. so what? go get mods of your own. supercharger, nos, whatever it takes to whip this menacing gto. spend whatever it takes. there is a whole community counting on you to do so. i am sure that everyone here will support your cause in every way (except monetarily, of course). go, fight, win!!!!!
