Post A flash of light!?!?!?!

Well, I was on my way home tonight, it's a 1 hour trip, and I hadn't driven my car in a week.

I was pleased to be suprised that there was no miss when I hit the 60 mph mark in 3rd gear. Hay cool! I do enjoy useing the top end of my engine. The old Lawn Ornamate realy feels like she comes a live at about 4,000 rpm. So much fun.

I got on the back road to my parants house. It's of of those famous Texas back roads, with nearly mirror smooth pavement, as straight as an arrow, little in the way of people or traffic, but deep ditches. The local high school idoits used to use it as a street drag strip, until they got shot at by a neibor, but thats a diffrent story.

Anyways, I'm accelerating out of the turn ontop the road, throtal as wide as it'll go. I hit that 60 mph mark and BANG! Theres a flash of light behind me! I'm thinking what the hell! Like most American drivers I don't pay much attention to the mirrors when I'm not changeing lanes. The flash of light was enough to get my attention even though I wasn't paying attention to my rear, and all the dark glass!

As luck would have it, about the second I look into my rear veiw mirror, a car turns onto the road behind me. About where I was then there was a Bang and flash of light, there was a cloud of smoke. It was dark, but the light shineing though it made it clearly visible.

It's dark right now, so I've yet to inspect my car, and see if anything isn't as it should be. The car continued to run strongly afterward. It was just like a louder, bright version of my old miss. When I resteped on the gas again, no miss, just like when I started my trip home.

Does anyone have a clue what in the world happened? My miss is now officaly intermintent, and confuseing the heck out of me.

Even random thought would be welcome.

simple terms ...Backfire the open gun barrel you have for exhaust loaded up with fuel and exploded . Most likely your ignition cut out for a bit then when it fired ....it really fired .

Yuck Yuck Yuck

That is kinda scary folks!

Enough fuel loading up in the exhaust to cause that kind of a fire ball is kinda scary!

I don't guess you'd have a clue what could cause the ignition to cut out all of a sudden, would you? I've always suspected that all my problems are in the ignition system, but I can't seem to pin it down. It's a pretty simple system but I can't seem to figure out what would cause the ignition to cut out like that.

Well, thanks for the suggestion on what could have cause my flash of light. That probably really scared the car that just turned onto the road!

I suppose there could be at least one other explanation too:

At least the Lawn Ornament is already without a cat - it'd be toast by now!

BTW, have any good pics of the red with gold flakes paint?

No joy in the red w/ gold flacks.

I just recently got access to a digital camra, and only a week ago got access to a computer with the neccary USB port. My old computer was made before USB ports where common, and it's not realy worth upgradeing.

Oh well, one complaint is the paint is very easily chiped, and just pealing off the molding along the sides. I'm kinda ashamed about that. Also, it looks like the painter just painted over two minor rust spots on the rear quaters, under the windows. Finaly, none of the weather striping was replaced after tha paint job. Over all, I'm not too happy with the paint. Looks like expensive paint, but a poor job on preping, and painting. Along the under side of the curve, near the bottem of the body, you can also notice what looks like drops, like the paint was too thick, and trying to drip. One day I'm going to redo it in British Raceing Green. A neibor's wrecked 928 is that color, and I fell in love with it.

I'll see about getting some photos, but it's going to be hard to photograph the flacks. They're pretty suttle.

Forchantly for me, I wasn't around the guy that shoots! I'm pretty sure I wasn't shot at. But you never know...

What the heck is wrong with that car!?!?!? Heck, what type of car is it? It sure isn't a 928!

Damn it, ViribusUnitis!

How can you misspell something in your signature?

And your own damn handle???

You are an artist.

I can misspell ANY word, at ANY time, under ANY condition.

It is forchant for the world that I don't have a twin*, because I'm pretty sure the world could not survive two of me.

Please though, tell me what word I misspelled in my signature. I ran it though a spell checker, and tryed to get the words copyed faithfuly. The mispelling of the hannle was an accident. I didn't see the second "i" in Unitis. opps...

*It has yet to be proven that I don't have a twin, as I've met TWO people that look astonishingly like me. Height, weight, skin color, hair color, eye color, hand shape, face shape everything! One named Brandan(spelling...) lives in British Columbia, Canada, and another named Jim lives in Central Texas...

Don't worry Viribus, they say we all have at least one doppleganger out there (I've met at least five alternate-universe versions of myself). Just make sure your evil version doesn't go messing with any of your girlfriends.

Of course, I suppose it's pretty chauvenist of me to assume you are a male, since nothing you've written in this thread really gives any indication of what gender you are. So, un case I was wrong, feel free to replace "girlfriend" with whatever is neccessary.

But back on topic, a true BRG 928 would look pretty nice.

Not sure about Texas, and the BANG, but here in Maryland if you see a flash of light behind you it probably means one of the stupid red light cameras, or one of the unmanned speeding cameras just took a picture of your license plate!!

ViribusUnits...

Since you are an admittedly awful speller, why not use the spell checker for everything that you post? When you do use it, pay attention to the misspelled word and remember the correct spelling. Let it be a learning experience.

Don't feel bad, as everyday is a learning day for me.
