Lots of the bands mentioned here are totally unknown to me. I wonder, if I'm too young, or too old. Or maybe I just don't watch enogh MTV?
I've been listening to a lot of Styx lately, but clearly prefer their mellower songs.
I also like Alan Parsons, Don Henley / Eagles, most earlier Mariah Carey songs, Phil Collins, Elton John, Pink Floyd, and lots of others. These are pretty much all mainstream, so I guess I must be boring...
One of my absolute favorites is the Italian neo-baroque band "Rondo Veniziano". Awesome stuff, not too heavy for the 928's lousy sound system - but to the best of my knowledge the CDs are not available here in the US.
Real classical music would definitely require a speaker upgrade...

Nicole,
Me too! All really good choices except (sorry) Mariah Carey, I just can't go there.
Hey, with taste like that, you married?

Nicole...
[AS usuall...you have good taste!]
Styx is an old friend of mine [Bedford High School, class of '84] but...
For Italianate music, I prefer either Eiffel 65 or the music of Fiorrella Mannoia, a female artist who is not known in the US generally.
Sadly, only two things bring tears to my eyes:
1. The space shuttle taking off [I make a fool of my self- in my own front yard!]
2. Fiorella Mannoia.
-I played Fiorella to my [lover] from Belgium during my usual 0130 EST call one night.... the tears flowed. Primarily because of US Immigration rules.
[A hint to you all; If you have a fight, play Fiorrella and get good and drunk~ The songs will save the day in the end]
Tears flowing...due to the distance.
But despite my love of music, I have crap for a stereo in my shark [the '80 Jetta has a cheap $65 stereo, and Happy Truck has nothing....] so I am without tunes more or less, since I'm on the road [Anchorage, Alaska tonight]. Unless you consider the QAF soundtrack CD in my laptop case!
-These days, due to Southern Air's scheduling, I spend about 3 days per month with my shark.
Yuck...I need to work for a real airline!
Normy!

If tunes were wine, plenty of you guys like to knock back a lot of Mad Dog 20/20, Wild Irish Rose, Thunderbird, and Night Train. Me, I'm more into a nice, tasy Zin or Cab.
The WHO, Allman Brothers Band, Mighty Zep, Beatles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hendrix, Kravitz, old Stones, Doors, etc...
(Just kidding about the wine (music) slam, obviously to each his own!!)
King James is out!

Max-
thanks again for the Julio discas. I still have your Abba series and complete Bee Gees- but their presence is making my Mustang kick the garage door so I was going to send them back. Unfortunately FedEx has designated them as HazMat so I'll bring them with me to the 9-28 meet tomorrow.

Ok you rivetheads...
Why hasn't anyone mentioned RAMMSTEIN?
If you do not know who they are, but you
go to the movies, they were the band at
the beginning of the movie "XXX".
Really loud, hard, industrial, and GERMAN.
Perfect in the 928...

Donald along with the "Best of Laurence Welk” and the unedited versions of He-Haw that you requested me to bring you, what others would you like? My wife said these things are cluttering up her side of the closet floor and have to go. So If you don’t speak up now, they will be in the dumpster next week.

Okay, how about your Barry Manilow remix & Village People compilations? I know it's asking a lot... but you will still have the Streisand (is she really Manilow in drag, or is it vice versa?) and Osmonds collections.
Gosh, and it's still months until Christmas!

How about Sheryl Crow's new song 'Steve McQueen', or Don Felder doing 'Heavy Metal'? If you really want to unplug while you are curizing the highway after midnight try the Genesis album 'and then there were three...'.

Another CD that I won't leave in my car...
Marilyne Mansons' new CD...[it's not officially out yet, but I have a copy anyway. Dont ask~]
Its typically average- three great songs accompanied by 11 that are NOT. But the new one, "Mob Scene" incites me to vehicular violence...
There's not a corvette safe in Orlando when THAT song plays....
"Buckle your seat Dorothy, because Kansas is going BYE-BYE!"
Heh heh heh HEEE-
the N~

You're probably the only other person I know of who's even heard of Rondo Veneziano! I actually had "Odissea Veneziana" in the 928 today...
For me the in-car non-engine music is usually jazz...Diana Krall, Billie Holliday, Bill Evans.
On nice mountain-road-driving sessions it's usually classical (Bach cello preludes these days) or else it's Powerman 5000.
I'm also trying to hunt down the soundtrack for "Scarface" (that 'other' great 928 movie from the 80's)...

Where do you get your Rondo Veniziano CDs from? Is there a source in North America?
I like them because it's dynamic music that does not distract me or make me aggressive.
I am expecting visitors from Germany later this month. I guess I need to investigate, if there is anything new out... Thanks for reminding me!
I enjoy Bach very much also. But rarely in the car. Right now I have a Nora Jones phase...
