Default Elation, then Devastation

Just a quick story illustrating the weakness and fragility of the male ego....

While at work the other day, we had a storm front move through. Sirens went off, and the emergency TV broadcast said a tornado had been sighted in the area and heavy hail was possible.

Of course, I had to get the 928 to the safety of the home garage, but my other car was (and is) being used by a friend whose in town visting from Italy. So, I drafted one of the young, beautiful, women I work with to follow me home and drive me back to work.

After making it home with nothing but high winds, we were riding along in her car when she said, "By the way, that's a great car. It so masculine ." Wow! right? I was like, "My god, it is true. Cars work!"

But then, "So what is it? I know it's some kind of 'Vette..." Bam! It was like she dropped a sandbag on me. "Some kind of 'Vette??"

Sure, I'm probably being hypersensitive and snobbish (I like/respect the Vette, but I don't think it's "me"), and she certainly meant no harm, but to be riding so high and then to fall so far...!

Nice Stingray you've got, Chaad.
(That's still a sea creature)

It's unfortunate that your emotional well-being is dependant upon what other's think about your car.

Chaad, you did this thread all wrong. You should have posted it as an intelligence test of the young lady.

C'mon Swaybar, lighten up. It's just a silly story for sh*ts & giggles!

I like my German Corvette ! At least she showed some interest. All my wife can pick out are the colors and basic shapes, much like kindergarden.

''I saw a really nice car today ! You would have liked it.''

"Really, what kind was it ?"

"A yellow one."

Bend her over the hood and give her a good long look at the Porsche badge.

Fabio, that's funny. She simply has a reading problem, especially after following him home.

Sorry Chad, I thought it was funny too and was being dry about it; I spruced it up with a smiley.

That's the best situation chaadster, she's just letting you know she's a cheap date.
Now you know you can take her to the Outback or Sizzler instead of the finest steakhouse in town like any proper "Porsche" owner would.

Chadd-

You are the man! You got one of the hotties to follow you home, and she was impressed with your masculine hardware to boot. Why didn't you close the deal?

(It's so easy to point fingers... )
