Route 66 trip, anything I should see?
Heading from Los Angeles to Amarillo on highways/route 66, taking my time, anything I should stop and see along the way? I did it once before, but I did it only stopping for gas and meals in one day.
Thanks
Thanks

My one regret on our Route 66 (ish) trip in the 968 Turbo delivery from San Fran to Wichita was that we didn't stop on a corner in Winslow Arizona. Then all we needed to do was install the wife (girl) in a flat bed Ford etc.
I'ld like to do it again with more time and in something appropriate - 60's cadillac maybe ?

May I recommend you do everything in your power to avoid speeding. The locals are very aggressive about enforcement. It looks like a deserted road but there are several snakes waiting for you, it's all they do.

Good luck on your trip....I took I40 for much of NorCal to Maryland a few weeks ago. SEE the Grand Canyon, if you haven't already. This alone will make the trip worth while. The Painted Desert (east of the Crater) is also a good visit.
I was ticketed East of Amarillo, by a DPS trouper. You won't see many speed traps along the desert, but PLENTY of troupers in chase cars coming up and clocking from behind.
Be aware of the effect of heat on the car's gas tank. I had a shock just south of the grand canyon. When removing the gas cap, gas
shot out of the tank two feet.

Good luck with yours!

I got a ticket last year in Quanah, same area really. Talk to the court clerk and tell them you want deferred adjudication (sp?) and you only have to drive for 60 days ticket-free. The court costs will be reasonable, probably a bit more than the fine, but it won't get back to your insurance provider. This is one of your options anyway.

heading east out of kingman, you will come to a small town called Hackberry. General store on your left is owned by my parents. Stop in and say Hi. Well worth the stop. Loads of history in that area.
Dad will have his 57 vette out front near the 50's style fuel pumps. Just about the longest section of Route 66 left. H is right watch the speed when coming into seligman, They love there revenue.

How much time do you have? Between Albuquerque and Santa Fe you can take a loop north through Jimez, a beautiful twisty drive, and back south on 285, it'll add a couple hours.
