Thumbs up World record ??? Drag Racing in Devon.......Sunday June 10th...

Hi All

Final preparations all finished this evening...

Both 14 lb bottles put in the freezer for 20 mins then topped up from my big 82 lb bottle, then remounted with a total of 28 lbs Nitrous ready for tomorrow...

Twin connections fitted so both bottles can be heated and used as one...

Times to aim for.....

Fastest 928 in the world on the 1/8 mile is ...8.37 at 86.69 mph

Which I hope to better slightly....

Will look good in my signature , if I manage it .....

All the best Brett

Brett, what kind of HP jets are you using? Still at the 150HP (WON)? Or did you go up yet? Did you go direct port yet?

Why use 2 bottles at once for an 1/8 mile run. Why not one at a time to save the 14lbs?

A big jet nitrous shark should crush the 1/8 and 1/4 times of the SC sharks with same peak HP numbers since N2o adds so much more torque lower in the RPM band.

Hi

I am still on 150 hp of Nitrous as not quite finished my 500 hp system....

The reason I will use BOTH bottles is that when they are preheated....there will be LESS of a pressure drop over the distance....

I still need some time to setup my Maxx Race controller....but hope to beat that 8.37 anyway...when my 500 hp system is fitted...I suspect I will easily run a 7...and possibly even a 6 lol

But we will see ...

All the best Brett

Brett
Good luck!! 1/8th of a mile is not very far for a 928 with street tires....it will be hard putting all that power to the ground! A 1 mile test would be better!

Hi All

No World records I`m afraid

The track was set on a second world war American bomber airfield and I dont think it had been repaired in the last 60 years lol.

The launch area was appalling....hard broken concrete with cracks and potholes.
The rest of the track was little better.

Anyway...

I started by running in the 10s as expected and slowly increased the Nitrous percentages but as I increased the power all that occured is that my rears spun on the concrete launch area...

I ran around 10 runs times as follows...6 as follows....others were identical to some.

10.25 @ 74 mph
10.23 @ 76 mph
9.91 @ 74.3 mph
9.80 @ 75.2 mph
9.71 @ 75.1 mph
9.68 @ 74.0 mph

Then on the way home I found a nice flat perfect tarmac straight (private road of course) and I tested my theory that it was the concrete spinning my wheels slowing me on launching...

On my G-Tech I ran a...

8.64 @ 86.05 (1/8)

13.21 @109.36 (1/4)

That was on cold tyres.. and IS the third fastest world time

Which at least proved to me that concrete is NOT good for launching

Thats my excuse anyway

Next time I run will be at a proper track (probably the Pod) with my new 800 hp plus Nitrous system and then I wont need excuses

All the best Brett

interesting.
so, with 150hp NOS, why arent the times in the 11s or 12s?
seems like 13.21 is near what the stock 928 S4 can run, right?
If the Vipers are running high 11s low 12s, why cant we run that fast on a couple of bottles of NOS?
Is the record for a stock 928 chassis and tire set up? of course that would be a huge factor. (ie the skinny 245x45s or 225s!!) Can you dump weight as a part of the class or record you are trying to break?

It's probably the appalling condition of the track and the material it is made of that is making the slower than expected time.

If you had a smooth-as-billiards tarmac and some big slicks on your car you could probably set the record.
