I'm curious to see how much timing needs to be pulled at low rpm high load. Can you put it in 4th and prevent it from downshifting as you go up the long incline? Darien would benefit from pulling timing as now IIRC he is only pulling 3 degrees with similar boost levels as you.

Hi Rick
With Tony's present throttle limiter, the box shouldn't change down after about 2000rpm, so he should be able to do what you suggest.
Darien's car may be OK with only 3 deg taken out because there's a safety margin in the 85/86 EZF timing of 3-5 degrees.

Hi John,
Got busy with work then I tried to look up my timing to see how it matched Tony's but the info is not on this computer. I think I posted it on Rennlist but don't know how to use the search function for old posts. Thanks for the info, as always. So the 85/86 timing is retarted 3-5 degrees compared to the S4+ and then the additional 3 degrees gives a total of 6-8 retard compared to the S4+.

Because that option requires more software code space, which is available in the later LH2.3. (16k EPROM)
The LH2.2/EZF has a very small 4 k EPROM, and all the space is taken up now. You can't fit a larger EPROM beacuse the uC can't address a larger one.

John, when did the LH change from 2.2 to 2.3?
I heard 42# injectors and know thats what JK uses on his turbo. I also think he uses a super MAF but don't know for sure. He mentions MAF change. "Super MAF" is the only thing i can think of really. I know your working with him somewhat so i figured i would ask.
Does the S4 and later cars have the 2.3 LH where you can run 42# injectors? Or no and the MAF modification needs to be made?

LH2.2 was used on 84-86 Euro 16v and 85/86 US early 32v. LH2.3 was used from MY 87 with the introduction of the S4.
So S4 and later can use 42#.
JK does use 42# to support the power he makes, without having to raise the fuel pressure. At the power levels he is making, he also used a SuperMAF. The other option to SMAF is the type of restrictor that Tim Murphy supplies with his Stage 3 kits.
Fitting 42# doesn't mean you have to change to a SMAF/restrictor. There are people running 42# at somewhat lower power levels that don't require the extended range of the SuperMAF. The use the 42# and ST because they believe they can get more accurate control of fuelling than using an FMU.
It's only if you go above about 600crank HP (IIRC) that you need to extend the range of the MAF measurement by SMAF or restrictor, in order to be able to propeply control the fuelling under all conditions e.g with variations in altitude.

Thanks John
Do you turn a regular MAF into a Super MAF, or is it a completely different part?
I just had my MAF rebuilt, if and when i go this route I may try and find a MAF core and have you rebuild that. Is the price on your website?

Hi Ryan the SMAF is an adaptation of a stock MAF. I can modify a good MAF, or incorporate the SMAF mod into a rebuilt unit.
The cost of the SMAF upgrade is 100USD. The price is at the bottom of the main SharkTuner page of my website.

Drove to the airport today and enroute double checked to see that i wasnt activating the WOT switch with my throttle stop in place.
Nope..im definitely in the cruise map with my foot to the "stop".
I can have the car in 4th also and not have it kick down. I can still get 6psi boost from it though! I found another 1/4" bolt to thread into my stop to extend it and make it more restrictive...Ill' try to do some runs later next week but im kind'a booked at home next week watching the kids and stuff.

Sharktuner Warm up Map
I know i started an "Offical Sharktuner Thread" but having seen the Twin Screw Thread just become too overwhelmng to find info..i figured it would be better to ask an individual question with its own topic...with SHARKTUNER in the title to make it easier to search.
anyway..at what point does the car resort to the WARM UP map?
When does it "leave" the map and go to the regular base map?
