I know several people running Vista with ST with no problems.
On a seperate note, SMAF maps are now available for LH2.2 Euro 16v and LH US 32 85/86. Also one customer has replaced the stock EZ-F MAP sensor with a 2 bar GM type, and then remapped the EZ-F of a 12psi turbo car with very good results.

I am experiencing some problems using the ST.
I have finally managed to acquire all cables req'd and loaded 2.1 on my laptop.
When I link the system all is OK - shows firmware 2.1 & comport is picked up etc...
Lights are all on and present with ST - ignition and power and tech edge WB02 all 3
But when I go to system monitor there is no live data and as such I cannot do any tuning as it is not linking correctly.
All cables are new as supplied by John...any suggestions.

You are using ST1? I assume so. Do you have the ST connected to the LH, or EZ-K? It appears like a communications problem between the ST and LH, or EZ-K. You might try connecting the ST to the other unit (LH or EZ-K) to see if the problem persists or not. Is the ribbon cable connected correctly?
I have been having a torrid time of it I gotta tell ya.
It would appear that I have the the chip adapter in place with ribbon (correctly) or it wouldnt run.(would it). I have the 88 s4 so I have the 8 pin diagnostic cable by JDS (it is a bit loose in its plugs so I had to jiggle it a lil to get the all clear for the initial "file - new" select JDS type D standard MAF sensor
Then start car and go to - System Monitor - as per step in manual and "no bingo" no live data.
Whay year are you running Louie and can I bounce a few things off you.

Right now, I don't have a running 928 I can use the ST on. I experiment on someone else's. My neighbor has 3 so I can usually grab one without him noticing.

I noticed something and that was that you mentioned plugging into the 8 pin socket. That is the coding socket and not the diagnostic socket. Both are on the ECU case and maybe you got into the wrong socket. Not sure if that's possible, but maybe. Plugging in to the wrong socket can really seem right sometimes, but usually leads to trouble.
I will take a look at the whole set up yet again.
How many connectors does the diag port on the s4 have..do you know....

looking at another thread, particurlarly the cable for ST to diag port...i dont think it would have plugged into my 8 pin coding plug ...I guessed that it was around 8 pins it could have been more n that
I will check it at the car later today...I agree though it is in the diag cable to ST as it starts and runs beautifully just dont have live data which would indicate the condition we speak of.
Something else strange is that if I select the 30lb nozzles in the program it wont start ...it has 30lb nozles confirmed by John with part number.
Select 19lb nozzles and it purrs...I have a lean condition across the board and would have thought selecting 19lb nozzles would have made it rich as sin.

The diagnostic port on your '88 has 12 pins/sockets.

yes i had it in the right place...12 pins V's 8 for the coding plug.
Re-reading the instructions for the ST I did'nt save the bin file first up b4 setting parameters etc....(maybe it makes a diff).
I tell you what is unusual and that is that with my std chip V's a chip John burnt me (6lb boost 30lb nozzles) it runs richer...obviously duty cycle greater on the standard s4 chip for 19lb nozzles. Put Johns chip in and it is lean as sin,
Something really strange going on here.

Do you get the red data light on the ST flashing when you go to System monitor screen ? I assume not.
Spread the pins on the 12way plug a little, as Louie suggests. If that doesn't work, try using it on the EZK, as there may be a problem with your LH ECU.

no red light but have data out at the diag port.
Also checked continuity at the diag lead to ST..all good
Sharttuner dead ...???
Possible to send back to you for once over.

I have known of one instance where the red LED failed, so thast may be the same in your case.
Try the EZK, and see if that works OK on the system monitor. I can email you the later software for you to try.

I will try EZK next weekend and let you know how it goes.
This thing has dragged out 2 be a mission indeed.
You know I keep coming back to that stubling block in that the 6lb chip you burnt for me is still lean when I run it up.
When I select 30lb nozzles in ST Parameters in leans out so bad TE reads "LEAN" switch back to 19lb and it is just about on the money.
I will double check that number on the nozzles once again.
Will repost once I confirm that nozzle number
