A friend of mine is racing in the 2008 Lemans Classic next year and invited me to come over with him. His French racing partner as a favor (without my knowledge) contacted Raymond Boutinaud the original and current owner and driver of the first 928 that ran the 24 Hours of Lemans.
Just got an email from Raymond inviting me to come visit him while I'm in France and see his shop and the original Lemans 928. Raymond runs a Porsche race shop and still restores and sells 928's. There's more to the story, but I'll save that part after I talk to Raymond...![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Chuck,
I received an email from a 996 owner who was at PRI this weekend. He loved the sound of your car, and commented on how you were "keeping up" with the newer 997's. (Maybe he didn't see you make the pass on the back straight?
)
Any way, he now wants a 928 for a DE car. I've invited him over to the shop on Sunday, any chance of a kiln red racer cameo?
Nice job representing the 928 at the track!

Adam, the GT3's beat me by 10 seconds a lap - and I'm not sure my car and certainly not the driver have the ability to compete with those guys... The RSA's are a different story and Val Kory's 996 - we're basically neck and neck on the straights. I'd like to get a little more sound out of the car, but I'm pushing the Db level as it is... 104's with the pipe pointed away from the sound check.
Hey - my ultimate goal is to see the original 928 run in the Lemans Classic...

I would be extremely interested to know what Raymond Boutinaud did to his 928 to wring so much more power out of it for Le Mans.
This was always a great mystery....
He got lap times combined with reliability that just did not seem possible....

Chuck, that is super cool, please keep us posted. And when you go to France, but sure to pack your camera with plenty of memory sticks!
And if you head down to the shop this Sunday, let me know, perhaps we can 928 caravan, or if you have a passenger seat in that mean machine of yours, perhaps I can pop in some ear plugs and we can drive down together (I'll chip in for gas)!
And I've heard Chuck's 928 in his garage, and it sounds killer. I can't imagine it sounding any better, but I guess a bit more volume on the track always helps.

Jean-Louis,
My friend (Dick Pierson) and Christophe Schwartz will be racing the 1979 Olympia Dodge Charger in Germany in July - If you're in the area and would like to see an 850hp beast run Nurienberg let me know and I'll give you their racing schedule.

The Holbert racer has run 3x 24 hours of lemans and besides the fluke cam sproket teeth, has only needed brake pads, used tires and oil changes! Im sure it would do REAL well in a 24hour race.

Raymond's site:

Let me know when you will arrive and if I could help your friends and you.
Did they ran in 2006?
Every Le Mans Classic is nicer than the previous one.

Samuel,
They did run in 2006. http://www.olympia-charger.com/
I also have another friend (my driving instructor) that will be driving a Corvette in the Classic. I'll be in there July 10th 2007 and will keep you posted. PM me with your email and I'll keep you updated.
