Default A race clip from Saturday

Unedited, start of the race - I held back on the start - since I didn't feel comfortable diving into this pack, not knowing any of the other racers.

The red 944 at the end is Greg Fordahl - Former Chief Engineer for Jobe Racing, and current owner of Fordahl Motorsports - firmly convinced that 928's are not a race car - End result is I passed him...

You completely rock Chuck (and Ken too)!

For you guys that don't know Fordahl, he's a well known P-car racer up here in the PacNW, and very respected tuner. Has his own specialty shop up here, does a very good business. He knows his porsches.

I wish we had a video of his face when Chuck got by him, ha ha.

What race was this? How did you get to enter?

What did you do with your center dash area? Did you keep your heater and AC?

Is that a Motec Data Screen?

Heinrick basically got everything off the car..

The race was a Double National SCCA race that allowed the Regional ITE groups to run... 33 cars in our group with some of decent competition.

The race yesterday ended with a fist-fight between an RSA driver and a Mazda driver... The RSA was coming off track when the Mazda plowed into him...

Not Motec - but AIM. Fantastic system for 1/2 the price of Motec. It's not Porsche friendly though since the basic inputs are VDO which means no plug and play with the exception of the tach.

SO many "racers" are delusional.... The 911 guys say 944's aren't race cars...the 944 guys say that about 928's...bla bla bla..... I got into an argument in the 944 forum with a bunch of those guys about whats a better "race" car......all they had was insane boost dyno #'s & quoted silly low weights.....so I showed them Louies & Tims 584-556 Dyno #'s which were higher than any of theirs.....then I showed them Deveks 209-210 mph run 8 years ago...they couldn't beat it.....then I quoted them a bunch of times that Mark Anderson ran in his Zombie.....again none of them could beat it......of course they "said" they could....but there is no PROOF to back it up...sure on paper a 600hp 968 turbo thats around 2200lbs would be a wicked race car.....but wheres the proof!!!

I'm sure the fact that your 16V stockish engine 23 year old "non race" 928 passed his "real race car 944" made him plenty mad....he should try racing against Kibort-Fan or Anderson......then he'll see a real ***-beating!!!

So this?

Which one of the three? I think it would be easier for you to log to it when you go aftermarket EFI.

That is so GREAT! nice job. (especially the part about the 944 guy!)

funny, anderson goes to the porsche club or POC events and mops everything up, including most all, if not all, of the RSRs!! tell your friend about the laguna event where anderson ran a 1:30.xx and beat the RSR with a Turbo!! (600hp) plus, there were two of them and one was forsale for near $300,000 !!

Not bad for a "non" racecar!

nice drive! that track looks pretty scary. lots of stuff to hit. walls just jet out from nowhere, lots of hills around. reminds me of sears point before they turned it into infinion.
what was up with that big GRIND downshift!! oh, the borq warner gods will be talking to you about that one. ive done a few of those. dont know how many of those you have left, but i think you get a maximum of 9 in a gear box lifetime! you really have to do a big blip of the throttle between downshifts. if you are not heal towing, just brake until a neutral part of the turn in or just before turn in, and give it a big blip with the gas and shift.
I remember pulling chunks of stuff out of my transmission before i stopped doing that on occasion.
whats up with smokey the bear BMW??

LOL Mark - my synchros have been shot for 3 years - and I've been waiting for the tranny to fail so I can replace it with a later model with LSD. I've tried the double clutching, etc and it still grinds so I just make due.... I use heel and toe and after the first lap you'll hear the blips... and the grinds..

Alot of people (I used to be one of those) hated the track because it's not forgiving (try it in the rain). The most dangerous places on the track are the places that don't really gain you any speed. The good news is that the owner is putting $150M into the track - widening it and more barriers. He's trying to bring back some of the major events.

If you look at the video you'll some tracks going off track, up a hill. A Z06 on his first lap went airborne there - the next set of corners a BMW rolled twice and of course the high speed turn at the end of the straight took out 3 cars on the first lap (This was all during the first GT race). Over the course of a weekend the field thins out pretty quick.

Mark - next year we have to commit to getting all of the West Coast 928s together for a race. Maybe a Thunderhill event. I can try and talk Darrin Gilmore from Canada to come down. Ken Osage and I would definitely commit.

Ken's picking up the racing alot faster than I did (Some people are naturals.. some have to learn)

Brenda - The AIM product I use is the MyChron Gold. I use it more for driver and car performance verses engine performance. The system is so flexible you can easily customize it for anything.

Here's a link to a screen shot. I use it more for overlaying laps and seeing what I'm doing right/wrong. Again - you can customize the views, sync it to videos - run a dashmode verses map mode, etc.

Hmm
A bunch of sharks at Thunderhill......man it would be sweet to see 928's sweep the podium....but some of the locals turn pretty good times in non-928's too....BUT if it was a big turnout we might be able to convince Fan-Anderson to show up and throw down a beating on EVERYONE.....
