Anyone installed 928 Int'l's cat back exhaust for 78-84?
I bet they have a beautiful system, but I'd like to hear opinions about sound, build quality and fit. Anybody put one of these in yet?

Just as a reference I found the borla system hard to install on early cars with the bolt in battery box. You had to grind away part of the battery box and fabricate something to hold up the end of the muffler because the mount points did not really match up at all. Still, worth it.

I installed a Borla system on my 78 and the only problem I encountered was in the rear half of the cat-back system. I wasn't told about this little problem until after I ordered it but with a little elbow grease - it can be done. Truthfully it was harder to remove the old rusty exhaust than install the Borla even with those problems.
Clearing the battery box & using the rear hanger was the biggest hurtle. But I mounted the system with the car up on jack stands loosly and managed to clear the battery box (barely) and rigged up a rear mount. Once I had it where it needed to be I tightened it all down.
I also removed the Cat and replaced it with a strait center Y-pipe. This helped a little as it was about an inch shorter than the cat-Y-pipe. FYI I re-install it for emissions testing.

This will soon be a moot point since we were told that Borla has stopped making the last of their 928 exhausts and even when they did make them they were very difficult to get in a timely manner because the production runs were so small. That is what prompted Mark to have our stainless exhaust manufactured a quality replacement all stainless steel with a high flow muffler which fits 79-84. As part of the design Mark installed it on a car and in his opinion it sounded "just right " not too loud, not too quiet but "Just right"... Customer feed back has been very positive. A direct easy bolt on you can do at home.

Only the 78 with the bolt in battery box hanging off the differential had any issues with fitment (Borla never was aware) ...The 79-84 is a no brainer bolt in ! Our "new" system is a simplified improved replacement a direct bolt in from the back of the cat to the polished stainless twin exhaust tips.
