I posted a simlar note on the SoCal board, so we'll see how many we get to negotiate for.

For the record, my car (and Rob's) are green banded with no antenna in the glass. Will that be OK for your car, Brendan?

We could probably put the glass on a seat on the train with a ticket taped to it, and it would be in your neighborhood in an afternoon... Faster than Greyhound service I suspect.
Depending on the price of just the glass, I have little problem with coming up and participating in the group thing at the time this needs to come together. I will not actually be ready to install it for some time. I have enough stuff to do up there that it is rarely a wasted trip. The band color I guess is no real issue, though green does stand out on a black/grey car. It does have a windshield antennae, but that is not important to me. I will end up doing that combo antennae where the S4 one goes.

So, Bob, for $200-250 for Sigla, definitely count me in.
Bob,
Count me in also

Bob, count me in. I will go with either Sirrus or XM, so no need for antenna in the windshield.

Thanks for posting that, Tom! Great info. Not looking for a windshield at the moment, but subscribing to the thread.

Brendan--

Rob Edwards and I both have black cars, and the green band isn't something I even noticed until I went out and looked for it. I figured I had the bronze right up to the point where I saw the green band. Rob has black interior, mine is champ/black, don't know if grey makes a difference in how you see the band.

Larry, Rolf, got us up to 5 now and that should be a bit of an incentive I hope. I'll make the call in the morning!

Dr Bob if you can get a Sigla antenna windshield for a good price.....I will drive to LA to have it installed!! Anything less than $500 installed I will take! Since $500 is my deductible

I bought glass for my 81' when I had it from a " Fast Glass " franchise. It was the chinese mfg. glass. Cost me $170.00 out the door and I installed it myself. It is really quite easy to do once you get all of the old adhesive off of the window opening. Just run a fat bead of windshield adhesive around the perimeter of the glass and place it in the opening. Remember to place the little rubber pads under the bottom edge of the glass when you set it in otherwise the glass can crack.I will be doing my 84' in the near future and will take pics of the process.

Brian--

I'll ask! I need to send my seats to your upholstery guy too. Lots of things....

I thought Bill had an OK glass service in the bay area, at least before his last episode with the Chinese glass.

Yep, many of the glass installers can't find Sigla except from Posche, and $1000-1100 is the going rate.

If these shops are really coming up with Sigla at $200-250, that is a find.

Right. The previous 2 windshields were Pilkington from the same shop. I didn't know I had gotten Chinese until I got home and saw the weird brand. The I noticed the waviness. I should have gone back. I've already got a small rock crack and within a year I'm sure I'll need another. That's what an 80 mile commute over a truck route will do.

Windshield is next on my list.....I got a quote for the crappy chinese glass with antenna for $450.....but if I can get a sigla non antenna for $250 installed...then I'll just pay the extra $100 to get XM installed & still be $$ ahead!!

The shop that did my seats and shiftboot is

http://www.cgcustoms.com/

Paul Champagne did the shifter and center console....

The installer did a great job and I'm quite pleased with the result. Now I can start the task of cleaning things up and assessing the damage. If useful, I will post pics.

The same company just quoted me $1295.00 for the same windshield!!!!

I find these kinds of inconsistencies consistently with aftermarket glass vendors.
