I did it the hard way too before I thought to grab the pliers and crush the little sucker. I've got plenty of "Harvy scars" on my arms.

Aw, that's nothing!! I once was flushing my ski boat motor after a day of water skiing. I was in the water at the dock with the motor tilted out of the water and was attaching the hose nozzle to the motor while it was running but in neutral. Of course the flush fitting on the motor is next to the prop. My friend was in the boat cleaning the salt off of everything, and he knocked the engine gear lever into gear. Instant spaghetti as my right hand was sucked into the prop and spit out again in shreds. Ouch! Surgeon sewed it all together again.....more or less. Magic. Let's go skiing again. Whee!!
