And then I decided I could turn the car into a sunroofless 928, so I can fit in it with a helmet - I think it will turn out okay:

I am going slowly to be careful with the metal, and I don't know what I will put in there yet, but it has to be light.

I should take some new pics. Those are from when the foam was still there. All I have to do now before the new sound deadening goes on is to get the last few bits of foam and glue from the metal surface.
And work out what to do with the sunroof hole.

Don't forget to take out the rear seat safety belt receptacles. Those need to be soundproofed too....
Peace.

No, I just know if I took a car down to that state it would never see the road again. I will be smiling when you post photos of it all back together. Good luck, your a brave soul.

I should have put a smiley there. Some of my cars have never made it back. 2 out of three have gotten back on the road. The other will as well, just not by me.

If you're turning this into a track car, why replace the sound deadening? I'd have all that HVAC stuff out of it as well. Throw the rear hatch in the dumpster and replace with some chicken wire. Take out the headlight mechanisms and glass over the holes in the fenders. Just be careful with the sunroof, you don't want to cut out any structural rigidity.

So this 86 will be a DD, and I am aging (nearly 30) into someone who wants a car I can hear myself think in. I know, I'm getting soft.
