[QUOTE=mark kibort]dangler, as i said, I probably have the most experience in pushing the 4.7 in stock form, 4.7 in part euro form with the euro cams and the 5 liter part euro 2 valve, as well as the S4 5 liter.

from racing and the dyno runs performed, it looks like this:

4.7 stock US flat feeling 200rwhp and 245rwt
4.7 US with euro intake and euro cam, peppy feeling 246rwhp and 245rwt ( so no trade offs for the cams, just 45hp gained!)

Mark, for euro intake are we talking euro 85-86 intake runners and euro throttle body, or just throttle body?

AFAIK at least Elgin, Web, and John Milledge may have cam options for the 928 16v, but I haven't tried talking to Elgin yet, Milledge hasn't asnwered emails, and I haven't decided on pursuing Web.

Raw cam numbers don't make sense to me without the reason for the variation, could be something that doesn't apply to what I want, like not wanting to cut relief's in the pistons.

Not building a hybrid motor now?

My assumption was that "Eglin" wasn't targeting the cam to a hybrid and may have restricted the cam design to lift that didn't require pulling the motor and cutting pistons.

Nothing has changed in my own plans, which depend on what parts etc. I find.

Each day I poke around for more details on the hybrid motor in old posts, search for parts and parts cars, and look at any newer cars on the market as well.

Elgin has no idea about a "hybrid" motor.

If someone went to Elgin and asked for a cam and said they were willing to cut relief's in the pistons, he might provide one with higher total lift.

My point is that looking at someone else's custom cam spec without the reasoning behind it, may not be the most useful course.

in looking at the valve cut outs, i noticed that they are really not that deep. you could use a air tool and grind them yourself. i traced the two pistons and its accurate to about .5mm. now, if you want to trace the valve cuts and do them yourself, you could. actually, the first pass on my first 5 liter euro, showed the pistons hitting the valves when they were pressed down .5". ( we clayed the pistons) so, i to an air grinder and make the smilie faces about 2mm wider all the way around. they didnt look as nice as the pro-machining work, but who cares, it worked! somehow the set up wasnt exactly perfect at the machine shop.

anyway, with a 5 liter short block, all you need to do is re ring, re bearing and put it all together after you notch the pistons. not a bad job and you get a new motor in the end!
