Hi Brendan,

HTML Code:
I am hoping a machine shop that does the balancing....
Approaching my first TB/WP change alone, somehow my confidence is evaporating.

Maybe some sort of weapon of mass destruction?

Brendan: HOLY CRAP
DaveH: LMAO
Marton: I hve done MANY of these and all it takes is a LONG breaker pointing straight up and a pull (as well as a push if needed) from the passenger's side.

It all depends. I have done this two other times and the stuff went smooth as Butta to coin a phrase. Watch those water pump bolts your your life could get.... Difficult.

Brendan--

RyanPerrella had been fighting the bolt on the engine in the stand for weeks while I was off on vacation and then off again paying for the vacation. When I hgot home and hauled a few tools over to his garage, the 'impossible to remove' bolt came out like butter. It just takes BIG TOOLS to get it out, that's all. I have an adapter that has a 3/4" drive on it, and allows me to use my 5' wrecking bar as the lever. Ryan had a strap bolted to the drive end of the crank at the flywheel, through the arms of the engine stand. We used the floor jack handle through the engine stand arms to hold it, and the big bar and socket on the front. Push on one while pulling on the other, and the bolt came right out. Pizza cake, mon! If you can't find the BIG TOOLS nearby, let me know and we can meet up someplace and I can hand them off to you. If you want to buy a big demo bar from Home Depot, I can mail you the adapter to 3/4" drive.

Doing stuff like this is why emergency rooms stay open 24 hours a day. Using an basically uncontolled force to accomplish a task is a sucker's bet. Try and remember this and you won't need to visit one of the emergency room for being stupid:

Use the proper tools or don't do it at all.

I broke the breaker bar end. I almost lost an ankle doing the jumping thing.

I took the engine and tt and trans out the bottom of the damn car in the garage, and slowley disassembled it, all the while still not getting the crank bolt off.

I have now already diassembled the entire engine, and had to actually take the crank out of the block WITH the pulleys, crank timing gear, and plastic TB cover ON the crank.

I am hoping a machine shop that does the balancing or magnafluxing of the crank can take the bolt off.

Brendan:

Is that the 86? Jeez! H'man and I did the TB/WP. I didn't think we were that strong.

Nobody has laughed at me (out loud) for asking stupid questions, and I can ask as many as a drunk tourist at a donkey show. Just plan to take lots of time, don't do it when you need the car back right away, and celebrate the little victories that come after every little frustration (e.g. siezed bolt/successfully removing the seized bolt).

Oh, and they have these commercials in the states about not shaking your baby, saying that if you are truly frustrated, walk away for a minute and don't take it out on the baby. Same goes with your 928.

so here I am after 3 hours

What is the string poking out of the RHS Cam Gear?
Do you think the belt is running too far back?
Where do I find the timing marks???

The string poking out of the RHS cam gear is probably a bit of the TB where it is disintegrating - see just behind where it says "To Vehicle makers instructions" on the top surface of the belt in the pic and closer to the WP appearing from behind the cover.

That belt was not long for this earth.

Thanks Bob. The crank is now out of the engine as I mentioned, and unless I bolt it to something, like the ground...or something, I will just leave it to whomever does the crank drilling and possibly balancing. Its funny sitting there with the balancer and pulleys still attached.
