Who has IR, Sound, Radio controlled 928 toys?

I have a 2-speed RC Nitro car. Fun as all get up except that the body is a BMW M3. I would love to have a 928 shell, but they're not available. I've thought about having a shell commissioned, but I'm afraid of the expense. These are not injection molded. I think they are vacuum formed. Does anyone know off hand?

Not sure what an "IR" stands for...but I have quite a few R/C 928s.

Radio shack had 3 styles of 928 R/C cars:

1. Regular 928 (non-S) approximately 10 inches. It came in various colors. I have 2 (silver and orange)
2. Wide body approximately 10 inches. I have 2 of these (silver and red)...I know it also comes in white.
3. Wide body approxinately 14 inches (1/16 scale). I've only seen these in silver

1/8 scale 928 made by Rico (Spain). Almost 2 feet in length. Has horns, working pop-up headlights, alarm, working turn signals, "reving sound" when the gas is applied. I have a red and a silver.

1/24 scale car made by ABC. It features a lexan body with a pan car type of setup. Extermely rare...I've only seen it once on ebay.

1/18 scale car made by Matchbox. It doesn't use the traditional style R/C controller. Comes in a number of colors...I have the red one.

I'll try to post pictures of the cars soon.

I also have a 1/8th 4wd nitro 2-speed with a .26 engine....3hp in a 7lb car moves out pretty good! Bummer is they only make 911TT bodies...so I never got one...just left the stock off-road indy looking body on! A 928 body would make me actually drive it again!

I have a 1/24 scale gold 928 Targa R/C I purchased the first time I was deployed to Saudi in '85.

I have an 1/8 scale nitro buggie that I could put a 928 body on, but then I would have to take it apart and upgrade its brakes, engine, suspension, and sell off its interior.

Adam, that looks big enough to almost make a vaccum mold for a 1/24 RC car. Ive got an HPI awd 911 turbo id love to change to a 928.


The other option is the smaller micro RC cars you see at Radio shcak and putting the small scale 928 bodys on them. This is somehting ive been meaning to get around to try to see if it works.

Adam, It's missing a spindle, the lights turn on, it also makes an engine noise (mine does that, I think it's lifter noise :-) ).......It's missing the side mirrors, not sure what "luna de maletero" means, I thinks it's the rear hatch glass. also missing a headlight cover and battery cover. It also does not have it's original box it came in.

I've got the 1/16th Radio Shack 928

Radio Shack sells those xmods 1/28 scale cars (same scals as the Kyosho mini z). Had to do a little bit of cutting, but I was able to adapt a 1/24 scale 928 body to mine. Another option is to buy one of those Zip Zap micro RX-7s and with a little filing and putty, covert it to a 928.

I've been wanting to make a mold of the 1/8 scale 928, but I didn't want to take a chance messing up the red car. Since I now have the silver one (and it needs new paint anyway), I'll probably try to make the mold this summer. The red car is the same size as the 1/8 scale Kyosho Landmax (narrow touring car version of the Inferno).
