"New" 928 a boon to racers?
If the new 2 door GT coupe gets built under the 928 badge, will current shark racers finally getting the same "contemporary" parts bin as the 911 crowd?
Just curious.
Guess that would be a good reason why the car won't be badged as a 928.

I suspect there will not be a part shared between our 928s and whatever they make in the future, so it won't really matter.
I thought it was the age that was the issue in which classes the 928 could compete, not that there wasn't a contemporary version in production?

Age is an issue for WSC, but I've seen 911 club racers for sale that look like someone just welded a '73 VIN onto a 993.
Regarding WSC, I think a stripped out Porsche 2 door GT with either the rumored TT V8 or N/A V10 would be pretty serious competition on the track.

I don't see Porsche going anywhere near a track version of the new 928. For the same reasons they did not produce a race version of the original or even the Caymen.
I Porsche were the Brady Bunch - the 911 would be Marsha.
