High Beams Turning On Unexpectedly!
1986 928s 5Spd.
When I bought the car with 115K the High beams would come on by themselves
whenever the headlights were on. Using the turn signals seemed to provoke
the problem as did hitting bumps in the road. Sometimes it would just happnen
by itself for no reason. If I toggled them on/off they would stay off for a little
while. This was really annoying at night!
I bought a used turn signal on ebay and it fixed the problem for about 1,000
miles.. now it's happening again.
It's probably just coincidence and I need another turn/switch assembly right?
Has anyone else had this problem with their 928?
Thanks,
Rich

No, it's not a relay,
I'm just surprised this happened twice so fast and I've never read about it
happening to anyone else.
It's really annoying to be high-beaming people all the time!

Yes - not nice to have that happening uncontrollably.... someone could get upset!
Once while driving a rental car - I was stopped at traffic lights and reached down to pick something up off the floor and accidentally pushed the horn button on the wheel.. it didn't stop ! I had to thump it a few times before if would stop - then when I look up there is a big "Hells Angel" sitting on his Hog right in front of me twisted around looking to see who's honking at him.... gulp!
Phew! gave him my nicest smile and prayed for the lights to change quickly!

Your car is just trying to tell you that it wants a spin on an open road where it can stretch its legs....
I know a good santero [witch doctor] in Miami that can help you if you can't track down the offending wire~

I had the same problem. I found that leaving the switch in the high beam position during day light fixed the problem. At night I pop it into low beam and it know longer trips on its own. Worked for me. Good luck!
