Default My horn blows in more ways than one!!!

Yea, so that title line could go in a few directions...

The horn fuse on the 93 GTS keeps blowing. If I just tap the horn with a quick beep, no worries, Sit on the horn and in about a second, blown fuse. The circuit is tied to the rear wiper if I recall. The only thing I have done to the wiper is remove the arm and blade.

My thought was that the switch was on, but that is not the case. I am sure I can do some exploritory work and figure it out, but I am too lazy (aside from having too much on my plate as it is) want someone else to answer the question or figure it out for me.

Rather than I throw speculation out there, how 'bout we throw some at me?

Thanks

You probably did check, but is the right fuse in? If so, then there is a current draw somewhere, wich you have to measure.
Was the horn replaced at some time by an airhorn? These things tend to clog up when oiled regularly.
If it's the original horn, does it still sound right?

pull the wheel and see if you have a problem with the horn ring wiring, could be grounding bad or the ring could be oxidized and causing this

I vote for this option as well. Same reason why most air bag warning lights come on.

The airbag cars have a weird clock spring like contact and they can have issues but I have seen so few airbag cars...try checking on the other forums since there are so many more late model airbag cars !

Funny. My wife does all the time. I rarely do. A nice rev of the engine seems more appropriate, as well as a good swerve to get around whatever is happening.

Horn issue: Keith - the posts on the horns are open I think - did you move anything around in front wheel well that may be shorting it?

Other then that I second the steering wheel issue.

Yea, I guess I will have to have a look see this weekend. I did have the steering wheel off way back when as I had replaced the steering rack. I might have cheesed something back then. No Brendan, never goofed with the wheel well.

Does anyone know how to remove the 2 horn buttons from an air bag steering wheel to check the contacts/mechanisms? Need answer rather quickly as I have the wheel off at the moment. Thanks!
