Here are a few of the pics that Chris sent to me of the car as it is now. Looks really nice to me even with it not being the best of photos. I definately want to see it after you repaint the wing, repaint the wheels, change out the carpet, etc. I wish the wife would of went for the red cause that was a heck of a deal!!!

No, but I've been looking at a few twin turbo kits, one by Corky/Aerodyne, that should make it hummm nicely.

WARNING, WARNING, WARNING!
I just wanted to let everyone on this site to be aware of the fact that the seller of this particular 928 GTS is a criminal in every sense of the word. I won't go as far as to say the car is stolen, but I certainly wouldn't rule it out either.
As I stated earlier in this thread, I decided after quickly selling my GT, to go ahead and buy back my old GTS (this one). I first sent a $500.00 deposit to Mr. Chris Piche in Vancouver to have him hold the car for me. He stated that the tires were really bad on the rear, so since I had nearly a 2200 mile trip ahead of me (Seattle to Indianapolis!), I went ahead, based on trust, and put on a brand new, full set of Yokohama's for safe driving all the way home to Indiana.
Now, Mr. Piche had previously told me before consumating the deal, that he had a complete and full set of service records with the car. He said he had all receipts for the timing belt/water pump etc. and that he had done all of this during his ownership. He said he also had in his possession, the Indiana title (still left open) from the person in Indiana that I had sold the car to 6 years ago. He said both belly pans were still intact and that he even had extras (?). He said the car was near perfect and that the only flaw was a small scrape on the front, lower drivers side fender, below the side marker.
The car sounded great! In fact, it pretty much sounded like it did when i left it behind 6 years ago with 25,000 less miles.
Okay, I booked a $314.00, one way flight to Seattle to meet Mr. Piche and pick up the car, with cash, no less. Thank God, I had a good friend in Seattle as well as the foll owing events I'll describe unfolded.
My friend picked me up at the airport and we met Mr. Piche around at the Holiday Inn airport. He came with a friend that parked way on the exact opposite side of the building. Strange I thought. He came personally with his girlfriend. They both tended to not want to look you directly in the eye. In fact, all three of these peoples eyes were completely dialated as though on ecstasy or meth, perhaps. The car was total crap! The lights didn't pop up at first, until he went and giggled them around a little bit. The interior was shot and missing so many things. The tire pump he said was there was of course, missing. All the tools were gone. The AC didn't work, front or rear. The mirrors were non-functional. The light scrape was a huge 6x9 inch dent along the top of the front fender. The front spoiler was held on by screws from the outside. The tailights were reading broken, though they did work. The mats were gone.
Now, he had said all of these items were catagorically accounted for.
When he showed up, he had about 5 or 6 copies of title work. Since they were just copies, they obviously had "VOID" written all over them. And there was absolutely NO Indiana title at all. That was one of the main reasons I was buying a car from Canada in the first place is that he said he had never titled it in Canada and that he would drive it over the border for me and it would be that simple. Well, apparentely it wasn't. Out of the total of approximately 8 copies of stuff, he only had 2 that didn't have void written all over them. One was from Kentucky that was an "application for title". The seller portion was filled out (of course it wasn't him), and the buyer portion was left blank. He said that was the only form I would need when I got back home and that he knew nothing of U.S. laws regarding titles. In fact, he said he didn't even know anything about titles since he was from Canada. What in the @#*% do they use for ownership in Canada anyway?
Okay, now you might say that I did no PPI. I usually don't so that I can get the good deal before someone else does. The cars are never as good as advertised, and certainly no where near the condition they are when I sell them, but they're usually within minor to mid sized workable when I buy them. This one wasn't even in the same league. Not only that, I really don't think this guy even owned the car. In fact, I think it was probably hot. My total expenses for this scam were $500.00 for deposit, $563.00 for tires, $314.00 for flight out, $129.00 for room and $450.00 for my flight back home.
He came very close to getting the whole $20,000, but instead had to settle for $500.00, plus an brand new set of tires. My total loss was over $2000.00. So, for those who always bash me for making money on these cars, you can now have a good laugh at my expense.
For the rest of you considering buying this car, don't! It's a scam and the car is most likely stolen. I e-mailed the seller (?) to ask for my money back. I've yet to receive a response. I'm now out $2000.00. I hope he's happy.

Tod,
Thanks for the "heads up" and sorry to hear of your loss.
Still $2k is better than $20k and be left with a dog.
You will find another I know.

Well, this may sound crazy, but as most of you know by now, I just sold my '91 GT. And guess what car I just bought to replace it with? That's right, this one. My old girl is coming back to Indiana. I gave everyone a fair chance to steal it, thinking I wasn't in a position to buy it myself, but with the quick sale of the GT, I'm back in the mix. I'll have it in mint condition again in no time. And yes, I'll probably resell it for a small profit. But, it will have all the imperfections taken care of. And apparentely, there's quite a few. It should keep me busy for a month or so.
Paul, I may be calling on you for some leather work. I'll keep you posted.

I guess the risk of routinely not doing a PPI, as you described, will work against you sometimes. In your case, that becomes the cost of doing business this way. It's like the badly designed gas tank in the Ford truck calculation. Overall it's cheaper to pay for the dead bodies than to prevent them from happening. So, this shouldn't stop you from still buying cars without a PPI. Most of us are not so concerned about getting a screaming deal as we are about getting a good car. Regardless, it is sad to see how crooked people can be and not have one iota of conscience about it.

You know, reading over the description again, I'm not sure there was that much wrong with the car. I mean, it needs some work, but it's a $20K GTS! Still might be a screaming deal. Of course, there is the little matter of the title.....forget it.

It was one of the worst experiences of my life. And like Bill said, this guy didn't have one single bit of conscience about the whole thing. Or anything else for that matter either, I'm sure.
I'm sure this isn't his first time, and it won't be his last. I just didn't want any of you guys to continue pursuing it, regardless of price. It was a great car gone bad................and stolen!
