Hi did you disconnect the battery while charging it? Try disconnecting the battery and leave if off for a few mins. Is it possible that your alarm module has an internal battery ? maybe find the controller and open it up

Can you remove the alarm? Do you want it there in the first place? Have you unlocked the doors yet? Really - lock the door, then re-unlock them and try starting it. The 86 I have did this, and that fixed it. They I ripped it all out.

I had(have) an UNGO 6000 in my Z... if it was installed correctly it should have an override button installed somewhere -- the one that came with it was a tiny red momentary pushbutton switch. If this switch is held down while turning the key, it should defeat the alarm. So look for the switch in spots you could reach with your left hand while turning the key. It's possible that the remote that you have is not the original that came with the alarm, in which case there is a procedure for resetting the alarm to recognize that remote. If you need that let me know and I'll see if I can dig up the details.

Dave, I tried the override bottom , but it still doesn't help, and the manual is just crap. There is a resstting function, it just don't seem to work. But i'll give Mr. Merlin's adwise a try, and disconnect battery for some min - otherwise i'll follow Brendan and just rip the out

Good going! Yeah, those alarms are a bit dated. The best motion detector in the industry at one time, but the remotes had a tendency for the buttons to break. I knew the guy that invented them, but haven't seen him since they were bought out.

While installing a new (used) Nak head unit I found that I have an Ungo alarm. It seems to have a remote sensor but I don't have the remote. I never knew the Ungo was in the car. There's a part with two toggle switches -- one for "Motion" and the other for "passive" hidden on my knee shelf. How do I identify what model Ungo I have? How do I get the remote that I'm missing? There is a large box in the kick panel pass side, where the Bosh box is on newer 928's. it just says Ungo. No model #.

Clever name for a run-disabling alarm.

You won't find a remote, they are long out of business.

BTW, a fun bit of trivia, and a cautionary tale for anyone thinking of marketing a product globally. Being well-acquainted with the inventor who was headquartered a few miles from here, I kept pretty up-to-date on his product developments. My first Ungo box was the one with the thumbwheel combo, image attached(not my pic).

Anyway, after a good year of trying to break into the Japanese market and finding that distributors wouldn't even answer his letters, someone clued him in that "ungo" meant "5h!t" in Japanese. I think it was slang, not sure about that part. For some odd reason nobody wanted to spend hundreds of dollars on a 5h!t box. Go figure.

Thanks Dave. I knew they were out of business but thought maybe I could get a used remote on Ebay and mate it up. I've had the car two years with no issues so maybe just leave it alone? On the flip side, I never like extra /unnecessary after market wiring and bits that could lead to future issues.....Any idea if I remove the brain and disconnect the power source -- if it will effectively remove it from the car or could it end up disabling the car?

Funny story on the name.

Old thread revival...

Hi Sweet928, did you ever remove the Ungo? My recently acquired 84 has one and I'd like to remove it but, like you, I'm concerned about collateral damage.

well if someone put the alarm in they you can remove it.
Its not rocket science just be methodical,
reattach every wire thats been cut usually around the lower edge of the pod is where wires are spliced
keep the battery disconnected while you work,
the last alarm removal I did took 3 hours on an 85.
plus the car had a factory alarm,
I have no idea why someone would double the alarm.

When i was finished the factory alarm worked as advertised

By the way.

If you have an aftermarket alarm, and after losing battery power find you can't start the 928, use your key!

Very common to use the key to lock a 928, then lose power, then unlock it with the key or later with the remote. The factory system still has the car disabled.
