So iti looks like we got our route:

Take Bernal to Santa Teresa Blvd.
Left on Santa Teresa Blvd.
Right on Bailey Ave.
Left on McKean Rd.
Right on Uvas Rd.
Right on Watsonville Rd.
Left on 152 over Heckler Pass towards Watsonville
Left on Carlton Rd.
Left on 129 East
Right onto 101 South
Exit 101 in Greenfield
Go East to Arroyo Seco Rd. Which turns into Carmel Valley Road
Right on Laurels Grade Rd.
Left onto 68 West into Monterey

Bill: Does your software allow to make maps for such tours? The googles and MapQuests of this world only seem to do the most direct routes between two points...

Sure, those who are interested can still drive there in the afternoon. I always stop there when driving on Hwy 1, and would be happy to lead a group to this "hidden treasure". It is so accessible, but missed by most. I'm glad I asekd a few Carmel locals about it a few years ago, after seeing a picture of it in a calendar...

We will meet at

Departure is 9AM.

I will announce the lunch spot shortly.

You will get directions on paper.

And here is the usual disclaimer:

Nicole,

I just looked at your last route.. Looks fine.. I would recommend you Try Cafe Rustica for lunch in Carmel Valley. The owner's name is Paulo, and he's German. The food is excellent, and is a local's favourtie. I don't think I will be able to make it on the fun drive.. If I am, I can call Bill, as I have his cell #..

Cheers,

OK, this is an overview map of the ride. It shows the whole route to Monterey on one map. The yellow waypoints are just set up to force the route software to take these roads rather than the fastest route, so don't let that confuse you. The stop in Monterey is just to establish an endpoint. Nicole asked to select something on the warf. Richard mentioned Cafe Rustica in Carmel Valley. We could do that instead. The software generates detailed instructions. I will be paring them down to essentials and split the map to provide more visible detail.

Great. I vote to stop for lunch in Carmel Valley. The area is pleasant and uncrowded. And we will be up for it by the time we reach the Village, believe me. Also, a suggestion: everyone should know this, but remember to fill up before leaving. That way we won't need to stop until Monterey. (And we won't spend any more money on lunch than we need to spend 'cause we won't have any left after paying for fuel.)

I'm up for lunch and I definitely would vote for the "local recommendation" for the lunch spot(thanks, Rich).

Looks like a fun ride! Of course we'll all be taking it real slow, enjoying the scenery, etc...
