Bill and I have been talking about this off and on for a while... just a matter of finding a convenient time, and we both always seem to be more interested in getting other things done. One of these days though.... I'm still too busy at the moment with stuff of my own to be bugging Bill about the spaghetti shark.

Bill, before you put any more shotgun holes in the pod, let's take a look at that sucker!

If we put our heads together, we should be able to come up with the essential wiring, have one of the more experienced electrical guru's among us draw up a new diagram, then get together and go at it. Strip out all the old wiring, run new wires and make it all work. I know firsthand that this car has potential, I had a ride in it with Kibort at Buttonwillow a few years ago. Count me in.

That is the spirit figure out what needs to be there not what needs to be taken out eliminate the central warning system and direct wire the gauges. Maybe go with a toggle switch for ignition and a push buttton start switch....this is a race car ! When you focus on what does it need to run ? it all gets much simpler

Jebdog: That's what I hear, but with electrics, I need someone to hold my hand and point to the right wires.

Bill - honestly - ask someone like Mark A - you don't need that relay panel at all. The computers barely even go through it.

If anything, rip it all out and add back what you need. It might not sound it, but its easier then chassing crap.

The 79 in question has no computer ! no brains run a wire to the fuel pump and a wire to the coil and it will run ! a couple more wires and the starter will work. Sure it needs a couple fuses and relays but nothing like the maze of wires in a 928.

Yeah, it should be simple. I know I need very little of the panel. I want to retain the stock instrument pod, swtiches and lights and then what's needed to run the car (fuel and spark). However, I look at the spaghetti and just kind of freeze. I started to completely undo the harness and then cut the wires to devices I don't need back to the panel, then....confusion. Fuel and spark should be no problem, but I'm afraid I'll end up with no lights or gauges.

There are a number of relays that are no longer in the panel. So, I know that all the spaghetti that goes to them can be pulled.

The dash gauges are direcly wired mostly to the sensors themselves.

Hah, hah. H'man, if you tear off the vinyl and foam, that's what's underneath. I originally was just going to mount the plastic intrument case, but the pod remnants look kinda cool.

If anybody can figure out how to bail me out of jail, I'll pitch in. Of course Sharkskin will tell you about my electrica-phobia.

Well, its lights out and the guards will be around to check soon....
