Early cars have the rear suspension direcly bolted to the body and the concentric bolt going through the body-welded bracket for the front link of the large arm. On later cars, the arm bolts to a magnesium carrier that then bolts to the car. Much easier to remove and service.

Maybe. When I say replaceble, I mean "probably" replacable. Looks very difficult and I simple greased them up.

Did you know that the bores in the S4 and up calipers for the pistons are teflon lined as are the pistons themselves?

ok, my turn to be a pita, but I'll try to do mine in one post
did you know:
depending on year there are actually 4 diff shades of guards red?
78-79 cars had "twin" vins, euro and us...
there are 2 911 parts on a 928, but 12 928 parts on a 911?
in 78-79 there were more non sunroof 928s than 911s

Again I think this is a US only feature...my Canadian delivery 89GT is metric only..no switching possible...

Did you know that the shift linkage on early cars is bolted to the body just in front of where the hole for the shift rod is? On later cars that section has a bushing that is bolted to the TT, making removal of the TT/Transmission/Engine all much more simple. You can basically lift the body off of the drive train quite easily with the correct, uh, tools.

The final say on the matter of using 85/86 32V cams in a S4 and later head has to do with two things:

Cut off the back of all four cams. (s4 cams are shorter) Its good to do it just after the last lobe.
ONE FRONT exhaust cam bearing needs to be lengthened (and the thrust surface moved) lengthened.

The seatbelt female receptacle on 928s was moved from the center tunnel (bolted) to the seat around the 83 or 85 year.

US 86.5, ROW 86 have S4 floorpans - same part numbers. This is when the bolt on carriers start.
