Did you know that on pre-1989 (?) cars, the switch on the pass side near the cross brace in the engine bay is NOT to control the light in the engine bay, but rather to cut-off the electric fan for the AC? The light is activated by a mercury switch (or similar-type switch) - asuming you have the main light switch on.

Did you know that ALL auto transmissions prior to mid '87 started in first gear all the time.

Wow, I can't believe I actually was able to post something to this thread

Did you know that the 928's Bosch power window motor was also used in the Saab 900 from 78-93. (To the very best of my knowledge).

-I'm probably just playing with myself, but I discovered a white 928 up to its axles in mud outside of Orlando a couple of years ago, and I swear that the body was aluminum. There was a patch of paint missing from the rear quarter panel, and no rust was present. It was strange, in that it didn't have the correct proportions and when I tapped on it, it didn't sound like steel. It had no interior, no engine, and the rattlesnakes inside were only 3 feet long!

Funny thing: The pliers and screwdriver in my own 928 are both black.

Most European cars have a parking light feature not common in the United States. When you park your car, turn on the turn signal prior to shutting down the engine. After you turn the car off, your turn signal will remain lighted on the side that was flashing, front and rear, to make the car more visible. This is for protection when the car is parked on streets in Europe, which are often times very narrow. I had no idea that the US model cars did this- my '85 S2 does, but none of the Volkswagens or the Fiat that I once owned did.

Another point of trivia: Want your windows to have the neat one-touch down feature that contemporary cars have? Buy the window relay from most late model Volkswagens. Plugs right in and does exactly as advertised. The variable wiper relay from your local VW dealer works as well.

Did you know that the taper (a.k.a. venturi) on the tapered intake tubes was a design feature to tune out the sucking noise upon revving the engine?

Apparently not all of them....my plier handles are red also. But enough of that....others have pointed out the inaccuracy of this data also....

Did you know that the wiring harness for the euro front side markers are on US cars......hanging there under the fender well covers....

Wow, finally came to the end great stuff.

I will add that the 93 GTS's do not have the pollen filter. At least mine doesn't and it was near the end of 93 production

Also I believe the 82 Rosewood brown and 81 Palisander brown were the same as the 79 Tobacco brown. I recall having my 79 SC re-sprayed in palisander and it was a perfect match. Just as the India/Indian and Guards red are technically the same color.

What 2 parts are from a 911? I know the gas pedal is the same. What else?

I think everyone knows that the big reds were first used on the GTS in black and the brake rotors are the same as the 94 turbos without the cast holes. So either rotor can be interchanged on either car.

Did you know that the pressure regulator on the 87 S4 had a clamped fuel return line wheras the 88 and up S4's used one with a screwed on fitting.

Later,

-did you know that the 79 compression ratio is really closer to 8.0:1 than its claimed 8.5:1
-Did you know that the some 78-79 928 cis fuel pumps uses a ballast resistor that lets up on the resistance to give more voltage upon cranking to up the fuel pressure for start up then the resistance is place back on the fuel pump power line for running conditions? But this can easily tweak to add get more fuel under boosted conditions

DID you know that there is very tunable aftermarket solution for cis to efi conversion? And this unit that came stock is already built for boost 3bar map sensor, elec. waste gate control, and it will even pull timing under high boost. All this and it can be had for $75 at a junk yard also did I mention re-mapping your boost settings on the fly via laptop

k, lance, we can do this the easy way, or the hard way.
the easy way: you can tell us what you know.
the hard way: we make you tell us what you know!!!
LOL
