It looks on the video like Mark sat at start after the green light. Sure enough - reaction time 1.44 seconds. Mark?

LSD is probably the biggest difference. (and sure, the tires too!)
I dont know how you can do it with an open diff. good job. anyway, z06s dont have very short gears. (or closer for that matter) their actually tall just like a 2.2 or a 2.75 928, with speeds in 1st 2nd and 3rd of 57, 85 and 116mph (and 4th at 155mph) 5th and 6th are just overdrive gears!
so yes, i think you are on saying the same thing i have been during my racing of the 928. they can be just as fast, but for a lot less money.

If I can spend 6k on a turbosystem & 4k on wheels & tires that gets me close to a Z06's performance, I'm happy.

Yep, I sat on the light, though, the NOS-equipped Transam next to me dialed in a 12.23 & almost did it. I can't compete with his 60' time in my stock configuration, so I decided not to try & to concentrate on my launch. Weee.
The turbo kit will bolt up to all 928's, I just haven't had the time to adapt it to other models besides my own. I figure the CIS (Lance) and the S4 will go first, but the '80-84 cars will quickly follow.

well Us CiS guys will need carls cis intake adpater. and maybe his FES kit for those who just want to bolt and go. 5 psi to be safe with out fueling mods. I'm working on a EFI for my Cis. I know these fuel systems can support 400rwhp via turbo ask the 911 cis turbo guys putting down 380rwhp. but i do want plug and play. Our cis will just suck down fuel. i Know For sure the Cis will take the drivetrain and traction to it limits.

Sorry Bill, that's not how it works!
The clock doesn't trart until you start to move. You can sit at the line for 5 min after the green and the clock will not start until you cross the start line. In a non-pro tree setup a perfect reaction time is 0.500sec. Anything less is a red light.

I dont recall them counting the timer until you react: pass the gate. I could sit there for 20s I think & still run a 12 second quarter. A lot of it is about your 60' time: time to get 0 to 60', or "the hole-shot". Automatics with NOS are quite good at this, wider tires help too. my 60' was pretty bad, and my reaction time was a result of me trying to stage my rpms better before dropping the clutch: which I did too high (see the smoke off the left tire about 20' down the track?)

Err, OK. I thought reaction time was a key element. My buddy focuses a lot on reaction time. I recall he said below 0.6 and you are DQ'd at his track (in Hawaii). He shoots for low 0.6X.

The ZO6 has these final ratios 1st 10.16, 2nd 7.08, 3rd 4.89, 4th 3.42, 5th 2.43 and 6th 1.95.
