Default Cup 4 fitment on a GT

I test fitted the 18x8 ET 54 and 18x 10 ET 58's on the GT today- Bottom line, they fit fine, a little close in some areas but I think they're ok.

Couple of things- The recesses in the hub face of the wheel are quite shallow- No way would these work with a bolt-on spacer - Here's the hub surface.

The bolt hole recesses are pretty narrow, not sure if you'd get a big thick impact socket on these (not that that's a bad thing...)

The center caps from my Cup 1's fit over the domed dust cover on the fronts, no problem.

Front fitment looks good all the way around. (car's filthy, it got rained on under its cover last week)

In the rear, the closest clearance is at the lower control arm in front, with the car on the ground there's about 4-5 mm of clearance:

Other notes- total weight in front is ~50 lbs, in rear is ~56 lbs

From the side:

Rob,

What's the tire sizes?

Are those 245/35-18 front and 295/30-18 rear?

235/35-18 and 295/30-18 Sumitomo HTR-ZIII's. The front diameters are a bit big (25.4"), while the rears are spot-on.

I took my shoes off just for the pic- I always work with shoes on.

Rob,

You sure about that front size? Here's the workup on the calculator with your tires..

Per this link to Sumitomo Tires... They make HTR-ZIII in 255/35-18 ..

Here's the workup on this combination...

I can't read either, the fronts are 235/40-18. Was trying (and failing) to do it from memory. Sorry!

Yes, slightly taller.....

The 255/35-18 are only slightly wider.

I don't get it; why run a $275 tire on a $175 wheel?
Why not just buy one good set of wheels (for more $$$) that you intend to run forever.

What's the negative aspect of the $175 wheel?
