I got mine from DR at 928 specialists... not sure if they are around anymore. it's a kiness / BW setup. on the kiness site they don't show them anymore. I was going to get a 2nd set for track use.

Hey Rob,
This may be a silly question since you've had so many mods to your car, but I was wondering if you are aware of a difference in performance due to the "Black Bird" system in your car??????

Ok I love this thread.

My wheels are plain old slots. But now I want to upgrade....

Can someone tell me the following?

Offsets
1. what is best?
2. what will be acceptable?

Width

What fits front & rear without rubbing or requiring rolled arches etc?

I've had my 928 for 2 years now, and have always been put off because I've never known the answers to these questions. Clearly lots of people have changed their wheels, so hopefully I can get a definative answer and get on & order some new wheels!

rough answer based on guessing you have a late-80's S4:

18x8 et 57 front w 235/40-18 rubber

18x10 et 58 rear w up to 295/30/18 rubber

That's pretty much the max you'll fit under stock bodywork, and those offsets are close to ideal for the width of wheels I've listed.

Certain of these cars came with rear spacers, which complicate the equation and/or have to be taken off.

If you go with wheels that are not 8" front and 10" rear, the ideal offsets are different to keep the wheel centered on the hub.

That's enough to get you started. Do a search on this board - there's tons more detail (and probably more exact answers than this one).

Thanks Shawn. Am I right in saying the current offsets are 65? This change then as the width and/or height of the tyre changes?
