Default Anyone Interested in Group Buy of Custom Metal Pedals??

I have been in contact with Ultimate Pedals about getting a set of Aluminum pedals for my 928. I saw their ad in the January Panorama magazine, page 32. They showed a nice Porsche crest available in the pedal as an option, but have since removed it as available directly from them, at the request of Porsche. They can machine a pocket for the crest, and will provide the Porsche part number for the crest. The cost for the pocket is an additional $10 per pedal.

I asked about a group buy discount - here is what they are offering:
5-9 pedal sets - 25%
10-19 pedal sets - 30%
20 + pedal sets - 35%
(pedal set consists of gas and brake or gas and brake/clutch)
(There is no discount on the machining of the pocket for a crest)

They offer 4 different finishes, with or without 2 different rubber inserts. We can mix and match, thr group buy doesn't have to be for the same finish.
View their offerings on their web site:
http://www.ultimatepedals.com/catalo...?cpath=135_138

This is the link to 944 pedals, they do not show 928 pedals on their web site, but do have the templates to make them, same pricing as the 944 pedals.

I plan on getting the gas/brake/dead pedal.

I spoke with them today and right now, they are backed up with group buys, and probably be able to fulfill our order if we come up with a group buy in mid-March.

So who is interested?? I will put this together with Rob

Are metal pedals currently offered by an existing Rennlist Sponsor?

If so, Rennlist does not support 'group buys' of a non-Sponsor source.

Randy, I searched through the links to the various sponsors on Rennlist and could not find an offer of pedal enhancements. I sent John a note about posting this, probably should have asked first. Sorry, if any on the sponsors do offer pedal enahancements, I would love to hear from them. Ultimate pedals is the first I found that has specs to do 928 pedals.

Fabio, the prices o the 944 section of their web site are the same prices for the 928 pedals. List price for gas is $38-$68 and brake, brake/clutch $54-$84 and dead pedal $44-$89 depending on finish grommets.

Baring any objection from John D. or Randy V., I would be interested to see what they are offering

I see them on ebay sometimes. Are the a full replacement for the pedal pad all-together? Or an application over the original?

The reason I asked is because on the 78 I have, I just took the pedals all off for powdercoating or cleaning, and they are one piece. You would actually drill them to put something on top.

I've always though about something like this, but I don't know how this would work with the pedals the way they are.

Brenden, I think you would drill through your existing metal plate the rubber hooks onto, then use a flat head allen screw and a nut from the back side. The head of the flat head allen will sit flush in one of the chamfered holes in the aftermarket pedal.

Does it always have to always be all about the dollars?

I would only be interested in new pedals if they were actual real pedals(pedal arm included) that were significantly lighter than stock, and easy to install. Slip on pedal pads that 'look cool' always struck me as stupid.

I can ALMOST assure you that noone is going to make the entire arm. And they aren't that heavy. Trust me, I thought about alot of different ways recently to lighten a car. I drilled 5" holes all over my front bumper at the weekend. What a mess.

The back of the pedal is molded into the pedal arm. Very little room IIRC, to put some holes. Erh - *holes* where something might fracture, and break the pedal clean off, or break and shatter, and the spring mechanism at least on the clutch would force the pedal back up against your shin, cutting a swatch of skin....

But I do like the idea of Porsche crests in the pedals.

They have the installation procedures on their web site. You have to remove the rubber from the stock pedals and then drill through the original, flat head screws to hold on the new pedal.

Default Bump

So far only 2 listers besides myself have shown an interest, doesn't look like there will be a group buy. I will keep trying to get interest. Here is picture of sample of their pedals installed from their website.
