I received my two mounts today, one is the first in Roger's picture and the other is the third in the picture. The plastic bags are all wrinkled and the boxes have dirty fingerprints on them, so they have been opened a few times before and returned. It's pretty irritating to have someone point out a problem and return them, and then turn around and send them out again, one hydraulic and one solid, without even looking. I can't complain too much since the price is so good, but very frustrating.
I'll do a return and see what happens with the next set.

John,
Well I am not impressed with RA. There response to my first round of problems was first class.
My second round of problems has resulted in zero response.
All my communication has been by email.
I will take it up on the phone.

I got my RA mounts this past weekend and they are correct. Both made in India, no pin on the top and solid . I hope to get them in the car this weekend if I am over this chest / sinus thing that I am doing battle with.

Harvy,
No I don't think so.
There are people out there with more.
I just have a sickness.
I am going to keep both solid and hydraulic MM as the crowd in DFW have different opinions.

What about the following post by a 944/968 owner about solid motor mounts? Does any of this apply to the 928?

Solid mounts are a TERRIBLE idea in a street car, especially if you don't also run a solid tranny mount. Two big problems top be concerned about. First, the increased vibrations are a major concern, especially for the plastic oil pickup tube, which get old and brittle and will crack, causing you to lose your oil pressure. Race tracks are generally have a much smoother surface than streets, so its not nearly as big a concern for track only cars.
Secondly, and at least just as importantly, if you run solid engine mounts, you HAVE TO (repeat that as many times as you need to until it sinks in) run a solid tranny mount. The driveline in a 944 is designed to "float" at the three points. If you remove two of the three floating mounts, ALL the movement gets transferred to the third and the whole thing will act like a pendulum, which will result in damage and unpredictable behavior.
Regards,

I have the solid, made in India Anchor mounts in my car. Made a big difference in driving smoothness AND when shifting from reverse to drive and vice versa. Used to clunk something awful, & thought my tranny was on the way out; now it's so smooth I sometimes have to doublecheck my shifter position to know I'm in the proper gear and not in neutral. YMMV.

The word "solid" when applied to MM does not mean they do not move and flex just like the hydraulic MM. It just means that they are made of a solid mass of rubber as different to one with a cavity which is filled with Oil/water.
PS: The 83 and older cars have "solid" MM.

Mr Tyson,
Since you Teyxas guys seem to have a bunch of sharks with the Ford motor mounts,
any chance you can do a comparison between like year cars with the "solid" vs. the
"hydraulic" mount.
Vibration transmitted into cabin versus sound level?
A soundmeter reading will remove any subjective "sounds quiet" comparison.
When I first got the Porsche MM's, the car felt like it had a completely different
powerplant at idle and startup. Soooo quiet.
Cannot feel engine revs like before.

I'm going to send them back unless someone has two solids they way to trade for haudraulic or you want to buy at my $18 each cost plus shipping to your continental US area. I was told they were solid. Without markings not sure how they can tell.

That's how pep boys sold me my last set. In a clearly marked box.

Roger, I used the RA 2698 MM supplied by Anchor Industries on my 87 S4. Just started my engine this weekendand have noticed a vibration from the motor to the body which I susspect are the motor mounts. The number suggests that they are solid. Just my 2 cents

Unfortunatly from RA the 2698 could mean solid or hydraulic.
When did you but them and how long/miles has the car done.
