I got my second pair of mounts from RA today. At least everyone's consistent. One is solid, painted black, made in India. The other is hydraulic, plated and made in the USA. Identical to the last order so at least I have two matching pairs now. Now the decision to return the hydraulic or solid mounts. Will it ever end??

I am doing a solid rubber set on the 87 this weekend.
The problem is with RA not with Anchor.

After you do them, can you let me know how it feels compared to the hydraulic ones? I'm probably going to do this in a few weeks when I get an entire weekend. Since I have to do it with the car on stands, I'm figuring it will take awhile.

You can always buy the mounts from ford. They use ONLY hydraulic mounts for that app. However, they will be a lot more money....though still much cheaper than the Porsche OEM units.

Guys, just out of curiosity, I ordered four 2698 mounts today, ALL of them were hydraulic, ALL with the little pin on each end. This is my theory on some guys getting one solid and one hyd., I'm pretty sure Anchor used to make the 2698 mounts all solid, and now they switched to hyd., to cover a broader range of vehicles, thats why some are getting one of each, the solid (old design) are getting mixed up with the hyd. ( new design )stock.
What do you guys think, does that sound feasible?

Anchor used to make only the Hydraulic unit Pt No 2698. They decided to out source this work and ended up with two variations - one solid rubber and one Hydraulic.
Anchor only uses the Pt No 2698. Internally, and only internally, they recognize the solid variant with a suffix SR.
From my discussions with Anchor all the variations meet there requirement of Pt No 2698. I guess the specification is pretty wide on interpretation.
As a vendor you order 2698 and you take Pot Luck on what you get.
The way to ensure you get the hydraulic mount is to order the MM for the specific Ford vehicle and you will get the Hydraulic unit we were used to.
I have come to the conclusion that I want the solid rubber unit and do not care if it has pins or no pins or one pin.
I will fit the SR unit to the 87 and see what happens.

Hey Carl, Yours are the solid mounts correct?? If I buy a set from you, will they require any alterations(pin removal) or additions(washers)? My mechanic says he has no problems using non Porsche mounts if I want to save money, he just says he wants them to be "direct replacement" without additional work. I like knowing that I can trust you to get a good set that match & have the hardware included. THANKS!

At the risk of perpetuating a story already told once too often, I decided to order the RockAuto mounts this past Saturday. To the credit of RockAuto and FedEx, I now have them in hand. Incidentally, there was no duty/GST charge on these which I understand isnormally the case if you request FedEx air shipment (a little more expnsive but worth it form my past experiences).

I ordered part #2698 specified in the catalogue as "hydraulic". these appear to be solid which is of no matter to me frankly as long as they fit. One pin on bottom, none of top (if I am looking at them in the correct orientation).

Now I just need to get up the courage to tackle this job single handed on the floor of my garage.

Piece-o-cake. Prepare to get very dirty. Don't forget your nuts (er, that is, get four nylock nuts and four fender washers from Home Depot). Also several large prybars, and a taper punch tool to line up the upper cross member holes.

Those are identical to the one's I used, and they fit fine.

Thanks Doc. I think I've got the nuts for this job. Just need to know I've got enough time to set aside for the inevitable unexpected. I did my shocks/struts all around a while back and that took some ingenuity manipulating them out of the front wheel wells.

A buddy (former racing comrade) has a Z-Car shop and would likely let me do this on a hoist but his shop is so busy right now I would feel guilty monopolizing a hoist. I would also have to endure the ribbing about how motor mounts never fail on Nissans. All in fun of course.

If you shake them and hear liquid splashing around they are hydraulic - if not solid.
I am using solid from now on.

When you shake them you can BARELY hear the slosh. I ordered solids from Rock Auto and got hydraulic. Go figure.
