Automatic Transmission B2 Piston replacement
In 2005 I lost all forward gears, but still retained reverse. I undertook the repair and upon completion wrote a report. I have subsequently helped a few 928 owners with their problems by sending a copy of the report on the repair with an accompanying alert regarding the oil pan gasket.
I have been asked to submit a copy of the report to assist other DIY owners, however, to get it to an acceptable attachment size I will attach it in 4 submissions.

Hey Tails,
thank you very much for the wealth of information.
As a coincidence, I was getting ready to install a new filter and gasket on my 1988 shark. I bought the kit from one of the big3 and the kit is dated November 2004, but the gasket in the kit does carry the 126 271 108 0 number of the old style gasket.
I'm going to have to look into this further before I install it.

BTW, I believe I unknowingly installed the old style gasket last time and it seems OK 6 months out.
