I recognize that midwestern humor Jeff. I know it well living in Chicago for my first 23 years, hating every single bitterly cold, or hot and humid second of it.

Yes, really, its horrible here. Traffic, Earthquakes, overcrowded, high prices, too many immigrants, Just stay in St. Louis, the true american dream.

Damn, I post this just before I leave work, get home and two pages! I feel so special.

For those of you in San Diego - on Thursday we are hitching a ride from San Felipe to San Diego to pick up a rental car. So if any of you San Diegoins are around on Thursday, we will be in San Diego. One of my oldest friends (by how long I've known him, not age) lives in San Diego.

Lorelei and my wife are the same person.

When I was in L.A. in December, I was able to visit the Peterson Museum (Steve McQueen exibit, had to go) and 928 Internatonal. I had limited time so I made a point to visit the most important places, just in case I wasn't able to make it back for a while. This trip in February just came up.

Sounds like a good day, thursday. Its a motley bunch here in San Diego, but we may be able to get some muster up and organzie something. if Randy Finds out it may be at his place, as that is also on the way to LA.

Brendan,
I gave Randy a day head start on my trip to SoCal. I figured this way he would have a head start with his alibi.

If only I could find a way to ship my 928 out there. The worst part about vacations is having to drive rental cars. So here I will be driving down Mulholland drive (for the 2nd time in 2 months) in some Chevy econobox.

Maybe I’ll spring for a Volvo so at least I’m in something European. An S40 turbo would be a damn fun car to drive for a few days. Problem is my friend has one with coil-overs and a big brake kit. I would climb into a rental version being used to his and drive off a cliff.

OK...OK.., I had that coming. I am jealous, of more than Hacker's trip here...I envy all you guys, with sunshine in the dead of winter, and the women of SoCal...if you have to deal with a few "annoyances"... along the way...surely it has to be worth every bit of it... We do read... about "how the other 1/2 the population".. (Southern California), live, and deal, with the nuisances that confront you in your day to day struggles... with great amusement. Nice place to visit..but I would KILL to LIVE there. Thats MY motto.

One of the worst things about California is the cost of housing.....one of the best things about California is the "value" of the house you bought 13 years ago... There have to be some reasons why over 14 million people opt to live in the greater L A area. Most people have little control over where they are born but all eventually get to choose where they live. I know I know jobs ,family, friends etc etc but it still should be a conscious decision.

As a shopping suggestion for your wife, I would suggest Melrose.
There are a couple blocks of all kinds of interesting clothing stores.

As far as other "touristy" things to do, you might want to check out
Venice Beach. And I would also highly recommend the drive on PCH
from Santa Monica north into Malibu. If you want, you can hit Mullholland
and PCH on the same trip. It dumps out onto PCH up by the Ventura
county line...

Beware. SoCal makes people do crazy things. Before I moved here I had a complete 89 5spd, and a 924S that I had worked on and put back together.

Here? I've taken three 928s apart and have yet to put one back together yet. Its the pacific air.

Moving to SoCal. Nobody believed me until the S4 was packed up and I was reversing out of the driveway with my wife and her cat.

A car guy in the LA area has to go to crystal cove on a saturday morning. It would be nice if one of these saturdays a group of socal 928'rs would make a showing there after waxing and washing.

Mulholland is nice but laurel canyon blvd from the valley up to mulholland and down to sunset is my favorite. A blast but patrolled, take a right on sunset and follow that to the PCH. Depending on budget, stay at the W in westwood. Eat breakfast at schatzis on main in venice and then walk the beach.

LOTS to do out there, warner bros. tour, universal citywalk, etc.....
