DOOR Not Opening from outside

Guys.......I had a similar issue with the drivers door; wouldn't open from the outside. I dismantled the inner door panel completely, got the anti-theft device out and noticed that the adjustment rod was loose. Not having WSMs at the time I adjusted it inplace as tight as it would go checking the outer operation as I went. Problem solved............been fixed for years now.
Be prepared for tight cramped spaces, scraped knuckles etc.

Hi,
I just had same problem, sometimes it opened fine ,most times not...thought it might be adjustment....but it was the usual broken backplate,,,changed it,,around 90 minutes.dumped the anti theft plate ...door now opens perfectly and handle is much lighter to pull than its EVER been,
Hope this helps.

Brian: Yep, I read over George's stuff several times. We are shooting for next Monday (after Xmas). Mike is off Mondays and I'll be off that whole week.

A tip that may help -
It is easier to work on removing the anti-theft plate and replacing the door handle mechanism with the window fully up, not down as indicated in a couple write-ups I've seen.
On removing the anti-theft plate, just loosen the 10mm bolt that connects it at the bottom, don't completely remove the bolt.. The plate attachment is open-ended, so it will slide out/back in with the bolt loosened.

Good reminders, Randy. I believe George has the one about the lower plate bolt in his write-up.
Mark - Come on over. Haven't seen you in quite a while. Heck, anybody that is off that day, come on by.
Nicole - want to do your oil cooler that day?
Let's hope for decent weather. It rained enough this weekend for a month.

I will be off on Monday, so I'll take you up on your offer and drop by. I also have all the supplies for an oil change.
